PROGRAMMER/CONSULTANT (BAND LEVEL 6)

DUTIES
Reporting to the Manager of the Office of Professional and Educational Development (OPED), the successful applicant will be responsible for developing, testing, and deploying new features and functionalities for OPED's web applications. Duties include writing clean, efficient, and well-documented server-side code in PHP; collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic; architect and maintain scalable and secure database solutions; troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems; participate in all phases of the development lifecycle, from concept to deployment; stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends. Also, this position works closely with the Instructional Design team to design and develop e-Learning modules delivered via an online learning management system; and performing other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (1–3 years) in progressively technical work in web development or a related field; completion of a degree or diploma/certificate in computer science, information technology, or business administration, or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Strong understanding of front-end technologies including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript is required. Experience with PHP development, relational databases (e.g., MySQL, MS SQL), and familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases are essential. Proficiency with version control tools such as Git, and experience with building and consuming RESTful APIs, are considered assets. This position also requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as demonstrated analytical and report writing abilities. The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven team environment is essential.
SALARY $57,336 – $67,257 per annum (Non-Bargaining)
