PROGRAMMER/CONSULTANT (BAND LEVEL 6)

(Full-Time, 3-Year Contractual Position)

DUTIES

Reporting to the Manager of the Office of Professional and Educational Development (OPED), the successful applicant will be responsible for developing, testing, and deploying new features and functionalities for OPED's web applications. Write clean, efficient, and well-documented server-side code in PHP; Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic; Architect and maintain scalable and secure database solutions; Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems; Participate in all phases of the development lifecycle, from concept to deployment; Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends. As well, this position works closely with the Instructional Design team to design and develop e-Learning modules delivered via an online learning management system.

QUALIFICATIONS

The qualifications for this position would normally be acquired through completion of a degree or diploma/certificate in computer science, information technology or business administration. Proven experience as a PHP Developer; Strong understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript; Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, MS SQL) and familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases; Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git; Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail; Experience with building and consuming RESTful APIs. This position also requires strong interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated report writing and analytical skills are required, as are a proven ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven team environment. Appropriate combinations of education and work experience will also be considered.

SALARY $57,336 – $67,257 per annum (Management and Professional)
