Kelly Cove Salmon Ltd., a Division of Cooke Aquaculture Inc., a dynamic and growing east coast family company, with Platinum Member status in the Canada's Best Managed Companies Program, is offering a unique opportunity for the right individual to join the Saltwater Operations Team as Remote Feed Manager.

The Role

The Remote Feed Manager is responsible for overseeing the centralized feeding operations across multiple aquaculture sites using remote technologies. This role, based in Blacks Harbour, NB, ensures optimal feed delivery, efficiency, and fish welfare while coordinating with site teams, nutritionists, and technology providers. The manager will lead a team of remote feed operators and work closely with data and operations teams to continuously improve feeding strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Remote Feeding Operations

  • Manage daily feed delivery schedules using centralized control systems.
  • Monitor real-time data from underwater cameras, sensors, and feeding platforms.
  • Adjust feeding strategies based on fish behavior, environmental conditions, and performance metrics.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise and support remote feed operators, ensuring consistent performance and adherence to protocols.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for team members.
  • Foster a collaborative and safety-focused work environment.

Performance Optimization

  • Collaborate with nutritionists and site managers to refine feed plans.
  • Analyze feed conversion ratios (FCR), growth rates, and waste levels to improve efficiency.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives based on data insights.

Technology & Systems Management

  • Ensure proper functioning of remote feeding systems and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Liaise with IT and equipment vendors to maintain and upgrade systems.
  • Contribute to the development of automation and AI-driven feeding enhancements.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate records of feed usage, performance metrics, and system activity.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare regular reports for senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Aquaculture, Marine Biology, Animal Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in aquaculture operations, preferably with remote or automated feeding systems.
  • Strong understanding of fish behavior, nutrition, and environmental factors.
  • Experience with remote monitoring technologies and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
