The Role
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven leader to champion fish performance excellence and SmartFarming innovation across our aquaculture operations. This role, based in Blacks Harbour, NB, is pivotal in driving feed efficiency, optimizing fish growth, and leveraging real-time data to support world-class performance outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost of Production & Feed Efficiency
- Deep understanding of all elements contributing to Cost of Production.
- Drive initiatives to optimize feed conversion and reduce waste.
Fish Performance Optimization
- Monitor and improve key performance indicators (FCR, RGI, SFR).
- Cultivate a strong feed culture focused on achieving best-in-class results.
Communication & Team Engagement
- Build strong relationships across management, ROC, and farm teams.
- Communicate effectively through both verbal and written channels to align goals and share insights.
Technology Integration
- Design and implement real-time fish performance data systems to enable rapid decision-making.
- Leverage technologies to support SmartFarming processes.
Data-Driven Decision Making
- Ensure high-quality, real-time data is available and reliable.
- Drive meaningful reporting processes that support issue mitigation and performance enhancement.
Growth Modeling & Forecasting
- Understand and refine growth models and forecasting tools.
- Improve inventory accuracy to maximize sales revenue and margin.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Aquaculture, Marine Biology, Animal Science, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in aquaculture operations, feed strategy, or related.
- Proven experience in aquaculture operations, preferably in a performance or ROC leadership role.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in data systems and performance modeling.
- Familiarity with SmartFarming technologies and data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
- Knowledge of feed formulation and diet optimization strategies.
