ASSOCIATE SEXUAL HARASSMENT ADVISOR (BAND LEVEL 9)

DUTIES
Reporting to the Sexual Harassment Advisor (the Advisor), the Associate Sexual Harassment Advisor will be responsible for assisting with the research, development, and skillful delivery of educational programming and case management (as assigned by the Advisor) related to sexual harassment and sexual assault for the campuses of Memorial University. Under the direction of the Advisor, duties will include preparing and delivering presentations; researching, developing, distributing, and maintaining promotional and educational materials; collaborating, facilitating, and engaging in appropriate outreach activities; working collaboratively with members of the university community to promote sexual harassment information and assisting with raising and promoting the profile and services of the Sexual Harassment Office. In addition, this position will also be responsible for monitoring and analyzing education and awareness information, noting trends and issues relevant to sexual harassment in higher education both at Memorial and other institutions of higher education; developing, maintaining, contributing to, monitoring, and updating the Office website and ensuring content is relevant and reflective of current policy, research, and best practices in higher education; coordinating the design and content of print materials; initiating and assisting in the compilation of office literature and reports; and performing other related duties as required. In the absence of the Advisor, the incumbent may be appointed by the President to act in the capacity of the Advisor. Some evening and weekend work will be required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (5-8 years) in the provision of human rights education and services, and the development and delivery of educational programs; graduation with a degree in social work, ethics, or a related discipline is required; or an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. Thorough risk assessment and case management skills; knowledge and understanding of sexual harassment and sexual assault and the promotion of human rights, particularly relating to discrimination on the prohibited grounds of orientation and diversity; and knowledge of the Human Rights Act, Privacy Law, and the Criminal Code of Canada as it relates to sexual violence are essential. The ability to successfully maintain an unbiased position when providing case management services; experience in the provision of crisis intervention, support services, and intervention services; and the ability to deal with highly emotionally and/or politically charged situations is also required. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently and practice good judgement, have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, and demonstrate independent initiative while demonstrating strong consultative skills and discretion. Multitasking in a confidential and rapidly evolving environment is a key competency. Previous experience in an institution of higher education would be considered an asset.
SALARY $67,414 - $91,929 per annum (Management and Professional)
