We are currently looking for a Risk Analyst to join Emera's Corporate Enterprise Risk Management team on a permanent basis. The Risk team, part of Emera's Enterprise Risk Management group, is responsible for assessing, monitoring, and the valuation of energy market risks of Emera and its various operating companies, including those risks associated with energy trading and fuel procurement. We are seeking a detail-oriented individual who enjoys working in a team environment. As the ideal candidate you are a keen problem solver and possess strong analytical skills with technical skills in IT systems, applications and processes, along with superior communication skills both written and verbal. You will have the technical knowledge and experience to support the transformation of data into actionable insights about Emera's business, markets, and risks.
Key elements of this role include:
- Developing expertise in energy risk management and Horizon, Emera's ETRM system;
- Daily monitoring of energy trading activities to ensure compliance with Board mandated policy limits on risk tolerance and deal structure;
- Create efficient, resilient and innovative solutions using modern BI & data analytics technologies that enable risk management and support business strategy;
- Liaise with internal & third-party IT resources in support of Emera's BI & Analytics systems;
- Expertly query databases for reporting and analytical purposes;
- Create efficient, resilient and innovative solutions using modern BI & data analytics technologies that enable decision makers and drive revenue generation.

To thrive in this role, you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies and skills listed below:
- You are tech savvy and bring two (2+) years (or more) of professional analytical experience as a Data Analyst or equivalent related experience with an emphasis on risk management and/or numerical or statistical applications;
- You possess an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, Business, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, or another quantitative field;
- Demonstrated effective communication with technical and non-technical staff.
- Preference given to candidates with working knowledge of Microsoft Business Intelligence platform including SSRS, SSIS, SSAS and/or Power BI.
- Preference given to candidates with experience developing complex SQL queries.
- You have proven expertise or understanding of Risk Metrics and/or numerical/statistical applications. Experience with energy trading or relevant financial platforms will be considered an asset;
- Strong relationship and communication skills as well as excellent multi-tasking abilities are essential. You thrive in a fast paced, deadline driven and team focused work environment. You are a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with the ability to adapt to a growing, changing environment;
