The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our Surface Fixed Plant Maintenance Team in Voisey's Bay, Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation. Relocation to the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador will be required for this role.
This is a permanent on-site position, working 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off rotational schedule.
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you be responsible for on-site technical maintenance support, engineering, screening/scoping, repair scopes of work and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the Maintenance Department. Your experience and skills will improve the overall equipment performance and reduce costs through establishment and implementation of proactive and reactive plant maintenance improvement programs as well as lead the development of maintenance team skills in improvement related activities, continuously monitoring and analyzing equipment performance and facilitate improvement projects based on this data.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Provide on-site, maintenance engineering technical support following a failure, in order to have assets returned to running condition as soon possible, with a reduced likelihood of a reoccurrence.
- Conduct/coordinate engineering field assessments and/or integrity assessments to make sure the assets are running without defects.
- Support operations and execution teams to conduct Continuous Improvement Projects related to operating or maintaining assets while making recommendations for improving the repair cycles on assets by applying existing engineered solutions or Vale engineering standards.
- Provide input for Equipment Capital Expenditures (design for maintainability and reliability).
- Support shutdowns as required/needed.
- Support stakeholders with troubleshooting complex problems.
About You
Education:
- A Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
- A Professional Engineering Designation (P. Eng) from PEGNL is preferred or the ability to be registered.
- Engineer-in-Training applications may also be considered.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of Maintenance Engineering experience.
- Experience working in an industrial environment such as mining preferred.
- Experience in rotating equipment, conveyors, dust collectors, pumps, piping systems, SAG and Ball Mills, etc. would be considered an asset.
Skills:
- Strong computer skills in SAP & O365 products would be an asset.
- Broad knowledge in the repair of fixed plant assets and mining repair facilities.
- Confidence in managing the priority of backlogged work orders.
- Ability to communicate/lead meetings with Operations, Procurement, Maintenance, Project Engineering, and OEMs.
