The opportunity:
We are currently looking for a HR Specialist to join our Corporate HR team on a 12-month term with possibility for extension. Reporting to the Director, Total Rewards, the HR Specialist will be responsible for collaborating with members of the HR team and will focus on researching and implementing HR best practices, advancing Total Rewards team initiatives and HR enhancements, and assisting with the administration of programs as required.
Key elements of the role include
As the HR Specialist, you will be responsible for:
- Researching and analyzing HR enhancements to advance the employee experience of Emera employees. This work will advance our goal to provide highly valued HR programs.
- Managing HR projects through their full lifecycle. From researching ideas through stakeholder collaboration, costing, approvals, communication, implementation and change management.
- Work with HR colleagues on projects assisting with peer review calculations and governance.
- Supporting the communication and research of Total Rewards and HR programs.

- A bachelor's degree or human resources designation combined with a minimum of 3 years' experience.
- Researching, analyzing and promoting initiatives relating to the employee experience.
- Proven stakeholder management experience – in this role you will collaborate with and manage multiple external and internal stakeholders at all levels.
- Keen attention to detail and proven problem-solving skills with a customer service focus.
- Ability to work with digital technology and effectively utilise technology to drive change and departmental enhancements.
- Strong communication skills - both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong relationship building capacity to ensure a positive work environment promoting, change, development and psychological safety for the team.
- Desire to maintain a positive work environment promoting development and psychological safety for the team.
