Are you ready to apply your knowledge in the real world? We are hiring a Financial Reporting Student for the Fall (September - December) Term with our Corporate External Reporting team.
What you will do:
We will treat you as one of our own and your key areas of responsibility will reflect this. These include:
- Assisting with the preparation of sections of Emera's quarterly financial statements and MD&A.
- Assisting with the month end preparation of consolidated financial results including preparing intercompany reconciliations and preparation of variance analysis reporting.
- Assisting with quarterly deliverables including preparation of government reports and working with other departments to gather and provide information; and
- Assistance with adhoc requests as required.
By the end of the work-term, you will:
Have an intermediate level understanding of consolidation and financial reporting.
Have an in-depth understanding of Emera and its affiliates.
Who you are:
Working as a valued part of our Corporate External Reporting team, you will be/have:
- Understanding of full-cycle accounting.
- Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic, high attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Prior accounting experience considered an asset but not a requirement.
