The Opportunity

Company, Department: Emera Energy, Corporate Finance

Location: Halifax, NS

Closing Date: June 16, 2025

Are you ready to apply your knowledge in the real world? We are hiring a Corporate Finance Student for the Fall (September - December) Term with our Corporate Finance team.

What you'll do:

We will treat you as one of our own and your key areas of responsibility will reflect this. These include:

  • Prepare monthly journal entries and general ledger monitoring, including full working paper/audit file preparation, detailed account reconciliations and analysis.
  • Action settlement activities, including reconciliation of invoice information with counterparties, invoice payment, monitoring bank account activity, and processing invoice and settlement activity.
  • Work closely with other departments within EE to resolve any settlement discrepancies.
  • Prepare government and other regulatory reports related to EE's business.
  • Provide a high level of customer service, mainly via telephone and email.
  • Prepare other routine and ad hoc analysis and reports.

By the end of the work-term, you will:

  • Have a good understanding of a month end close cycle.
    Be able to work unassisted.
  • Learn how to provide good customer service.
  • Have a basic understanding of the marketing and trading business.

Who you are:

Working as a valued part of our Corporate Finance team, you will be/have:

  • Detail oriented and possess strong quantitative, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven, team-focused environment.
  • Have a solid business acumen, customer focused and comfortable working with confidential information.
  • Experience with financial reporting systems and Excel.
