The Opportunity

Company: Emera New Brunswick

Location: Saint John, New Brunswick

Closing Date: June 8, 2025

We are looking for a Pipeline Technician to join our Emera New Brunswick team! In this role you will report directly to our Senior Manager, Operations.

Key elements of this role include:

  • Utilizing site plans, area maps, GIS and other location information to locate underground infrastructure;
  • Marking buried utility locations and communicating relevant information to excavation personnel, contractors, or other appropriate authorities;
  • Managing line locate requests through one-call system in a timely manner;
  • Liaise with external parties on projects within the prescribed area of the Brunswick Pipeline;
  • Attending coordination meetings at a variety of sites to discuss planned service outages;
  • Providing accurate documentation and/or sketches with measurements for requested work areas;
  • Transporting equipment and supplies to assigned job sites;
  • Adhere to all health and safety procedures;
  • Scheduled patrols and inspections of pipeline system assets ;
  • Other responsibilities and duties as required.

These skills will make you successful:

  • You are comfortable and willing to work evenings and weekends. You will also take part in a recurring on-call schedule as a core expectation of this role;
  • Possesses 3-5 years of relevant experience in pipeline and/or utility locating;
  • Demonstrates general computer proficiency, including experience with MS Office Suite and GIS Systems.
  • Transmission Advanced Line Locator & First Aid certification
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract is required and must be obtained no more than 30 days prior to employment start date.
  • Ability to accurately read, interpret, and update maps;
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to remain composed in high pressure situations and provide effective support to others;
  • Familiar and comfortable operating side by side UTVs and trailering. Must also enjoy working outdoors!
