Role Description

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions across a broad spectrum of building projects, including new construction, renovations, additions, and restoration work. You will apply your expertise in structural systems and materials to assess, design, and review building components, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with relevant codes. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Complete structural design, analysis, detailing, and problem-solving for a variety of building projects.
  • Apply experience in reinforced concrete and structural steel design; knowledge of building science, envelope systems, and restoration techniques is an asset.
  • Prepare technical reports, condition assessments, and project specifications.

  • Review contractor and supplier technical submissions for alignment with contract documents.
  • Represent the company professionally in meetings with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Work independently or collaboratively to meet project goals and client expectations.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and construction teams to support seamless project delivery.
  • Monitor project budgets and timelines, ensuring quality standards and managing risk.
  • Conduct periodic site visits across Atlantic Canada to review construction progress on assigned projects.

Your Qualifications

With at least five years in the industry, you are confident in your ability to lead technical work and contribute meaningfully to project teams. You combine strong analytical skills with practical insight into construction methods, ensuring your designs are both technically sound and constructible. Your communication skills, both written and verbal, allow you to build strong relationships with clients, contractors, and colleagues. You are motivated, solutions-focused, and committed to continuous professional development.

Your qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • 5+ years of experience in building design and construction.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in Nova Scotia.
  • Strong analytical and modelling skills; experience with ETABS and SAFE is a significant asset.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organization and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive in managing tasks and delivering results.
  • Comfortable and professional when engaging with contractors on job sites.
