Meridia Recruitment is excited to partner with MLE Consulting Engineers in the search for a Lead Electrical Engineer/Partner to join their team in Bedford, Nova Scotia.

Role Description

As the Lead Electrical Engineer/Partner, you will contribute to the establishment and growth of MLE's electrical engineering division while serving as a key member of the firm's leadership team. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who is interested in combining technical expertise and project leadership with client development, team building, and business strategy.

Working alongside MLE's existing partners and project teams, you will oversee electrical engineering projects from concept through construction. You will work together to develop client relationships, identify new opportunities, and build the team and capabilities required to support the practice as it grows.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Provide technical leadership in the design and consulting of electrical building systems.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, architects, consultants, and industry partners.
• Identify new business opportunities through client engagement, professional networks, and industry involvement.
• Contribute to strategic planning and decision-making as a member of the partnership team.
• Develop and evaluate design solutions that balance reliability, energy efficiency, operational performance, and cost-effectiveness.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring quality, budget, and schedule expectations are achieved.
• Collaborate with various engineering disciplines on multidisciplinary projects.
• Coordinate project activities with clients, contractors, architects, consultants, and internal project teams.
• Respond to RFIs, prepare CCOs, and develop electrical sketches and supporting construction documentation.
• Review contractor progress claims, change orders, and extra costs related to electrical work.
• Conduct periodic site reviews and prepare reports documenting construction progress and compliance with project requirements.
• Participate in project meetings with clients, contractors, vendors, manufacturers, and consulting partners.
• Review commissioning documentation, operation and maintenance manuals, testing reports, and project close-out materials.
• Adhere to MLE's established office and design processes while developing and implementing quality standards specific to the electrical engineering practice.
• Foster a culture that aligns with MLE's core values, collaborative environment, and commitment to excellence.

Your Qualifications

The ideal candidate is an experienced electrical engineering professional with strong technical expertise and proven project leadership capabilities. You are comfortable being part of an ownership team responsible for both project and business outcomes and are motivated by the opportunity to develop a growing engineering practice.

Your qualifications include:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation, or eligibility for registration with Engineers Nova Scotia.
• 8+ years of experience in electrical building systems design, including leading projects through design, construction, and project delivery.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently and serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients and project stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems within commercial, residential, institutional, healthcare, and/or long-term care facilities.
• Experience working with AutoCAD.
• Strong project management, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Strong client-facing and relationship-building skills, with the ability to serve as a trusted technical advisor, communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders, understand their needs, and build lasting relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
• Interest in business development, client engagement, and contributing to the growth of an engineering practice.
• Self-motivated, independent, and comfortable taking ownership of business and project outcomes.

Considered an asset:

• Experience working with Revit.
• Previous leadership, mentoring, or team-building experience.
• Demonstrated success developing client relationships and generating new business opportunities.
• Experience growing or helping establish a professional practice.
