Job Description:

About this role: Senior Data Architect will lead and consult on the design, governance, and implementation of Wealth data solutions. This role will be pivotal in shaping how we manage, protect, and leverage data across the organization. It will be responsible for architecting scalable, high-performing, and compliant data ecosystems that align with business objectives, while also playing a key role in guiding data governance practices and recommending fit-for-purpose data solutions to meet evolving organizational needs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Architect end-to-end data solutions across multiple domains, ensuring they meet business, technical, and regulatory requirements.
  • Design and maintain enterprise data models (conceptual, logical, and physical), data flows, and integration patterns across systems and platforms.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor on data governance, collaborating with stakeholders to define data standards, stewardship models, quality rules, and metadata strategies.
  • Evaluate and recommend data platforms, tools, and technologies (e.g., cloud data warehouses, MDM, data catalogs, analytics platforms) based on use case fit, scalability, and compliance.
  • Partner with data engineering, analytics, and business teams to deliver modern data architectures (e.g., lakehouse, event-driven, real-time).
  • Lead data assessments to identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities in existing data ecosystems.
  • Ensure alignment with privacy, security, and compliance standards (e.g., PIPEDA, GDPR, CCPA).
  • Contribute to data strategy and roadmap development, providing architectural input and governance frameworks.
  • Promote best practices in data management, data lifecycle, access control, and lineage documentation.
  • Work effectively with multiple teams across a broad spectrum of initiatives and functional domains, influencing and aligning others as needed.
  • Adhere to enterprise frameworks and methodologies that relate to business management activities for own area.
  • Actively manage relationships with corporate and/or control functions and ensure alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements.
  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts to the Bank.
  • Assess / identify key issues and escalate to appropriate levels and relevant stakeholders where required.
  • Provides thought leadership and/or industry knowledge for own area of expertise.
  • Support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation, and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness, and operational efficiency.
  • Work effectively as a team, supporting other members of the team in achieving business objectives and providing client services.
  • Participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business units.


BREADTH & DEPTH

  • Work autonomously and accountable for acting as a lead.
  • Provide seasoned specialized knowledge, advice and/or guidance to various stakeholders and team members.
  • Scope of role may have enterprise impact.
  • Undertake and complete a variety of projects and initiatives requiring knowledge and/or the integration of cross functional processes within own area of expertise.
  • Oversee and/or independently perform tasks from end to end.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in data architecture, data management, or enterprise data engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK), policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Solid understanding of metadata management, data cataloging (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica), and data lineage tools.
  • Proven experience translating complex business requirements into scalable technical data solutions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively identify risks/issues and recommend solution(s).
  • Shows initiative, creativity, and critical thinking in their work.
  • Ability to challenge status quo and to influence change.
  • High degree of organizational awareness and sensitivity - strong ability to manage productive relationships with business partners and stakeholders at various levels.
