The Strategic Sourcing Manager, Global Sourcing, is a strategic, results-driven individual, who works in collaboration with business partners, TD preferred Global Sourcing suppliers, and new suppliers, to develop and implement best in class sourcing and vendor management practices and solutions, that will enable sustainable value to the organization by optimizing solutions and contracts and supplier management, while mitigating supply-related risks. This role is enterprise wide and global in scope. There are many people across the organization who are engaged in supplier selection and managing our vendors. This role will be integrated into a team of Strategic Sourcing Professionals and will be focused on developing and managing a proactive approach for our preferred Global Sourcing suppliers across the organization that will include defining management and reporting of suppliers across the organization Application, Development and Maintenance (ADM), Contractor Engagement Program (CEP), Permanent Recruitment (PR) and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) space performance. In this capacity, the Strategic Sourcing Manager will interface with stakeholders at all levels across the organization, subject matter experts, other members of SSG and suppliers, to source, develop, implement, and manage suppliers and their solutions/services.
The Strategic Sourcing Manager supports the Senior Manager in developing and implementing the sub-category strategy as part of the overall Global Delivery Procurement Category Strategy in the Infrastructure portfolio. The role requires an experienced strategic, results-driven team player who works in collaboration with all SSG teams, enterprise control functions, business unit leaders, business partners, TD suppliers and external parties to deliver sustainable value to the Bank and business units by meeting timelines and reducing 3rd-party spend and total cost of ownership while maintaining compliance with TD and regulatory policies.
The Strategic Sourcing Manager supports business partners by developing strategies that support business specific objectives and goals, as well as helping to mitigate risks to the business and the Bank.
• Proactively engage business leaders to understand their business strategies and objectives
• Proactively manage the 3rd-party expenditure assigned and associated key suppliers to create P&L impacting value
• Develop Infrastructure Procurement pipeline and sourcing strategies for the Global Delivery categories
• Drive value in supply chain/total cost of ownership sourcing initiatives through early engagement, commercial acumen and market knowledge in Global Delivery (including ADM, CEP, PR and BPO). Activities also include requirements gathering, solution/supplier evaluations and supplier selection activities
• Proactively conduct Infrastructure market intelligence activities including industry, supply market and supply chain research/analytics, category sourcing and outsourcing trends and best practices and share knowledge, insight and advice with business in a way that contributes to their long term business strategies
• Provide guidance and insight on ADM, CEP, PR and BPO governance best practices and provide counsel to business
• Recommend and implement solutions/process improvements
• Effectively organize, influence and manage internal/external stakeholder groups
• Support internal Bank partners by leading/contributing to the supplier negotiation process to maximize price/performance and providing guidance on deal structure
• Oversee and manage the supplier selection process for the procurement of a variety of products/services, predominantly focused on Global Delivery infrastructure but may include software, cloud solutions and third party hosted or managed solutions.
• With the assistance of TD legal and the business unit, negotiate favorable contract terms
• Ensure effective delivery of Strategic Sourcing Group (SSG) services to business partners and ensure prompt and thorough resolution of all client issues
Department Overview
TD spends over $5bn each year with 3rd-party suppliers. The Strategic Sourcing Group's ("SSG") role is to create sustainable competitive advantage for TD by leveraging this 3rd-party spend and the expertise of our suppliers, to meet our needs, reduce total cost and mitigate supply-related risks.
SSG's role is global in scope and we have just embarked on a journey within our department, and more broadly across the organization, to transform the way we do sourcing, purchasing and vendor management.
The SSG team comprises approximately 200 people who are located in various TD locations across North America and collaborate closely with our business partners.
Job Requirements
- Post Secondary education/or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience of Strategic Sourcing practices in the Global Delivery space which includes CEP, PR, ADM and BPO
- Demonstrated experience of TD's Risk Appetite Framework, TD's Supplier Risk Management policies and Outsourcing guidelines
- Knowledge and understanding of SSG's Global Sourcing Program and Transition Methodology
- Knowledge and understanding of the Supplier Management discipline, including experience as a Supplier Manager
- Strong commercial acumen and business judgment
- Strong drive and determination to flawlessly execute and deliver
- Strong aptitude to impact and influence, written/verbal communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Proven experience managing stakeholders and external 3rd-parties
- Proven experience in business planning and delivery of objectives
- Experience in Project Management with strong analytical skills
- Strong understanding of contract law as it applies to the Global Delivery industry
