Job Summary
The Centre for Nursing Studies (CNS) is the largest nursing school in Newfoundland and Labrador. Programs offered include a four-year BScN (Collaborative) Program and a LPN Bridging option, offered in partnership with MUN Faculty of Nursing and Western Regional School of Nursing, a five-semester Practical Nursing Program, Re-entry Programs for RNs and LPNs, an IEN Bridging Program and Post-Basic Courses/Programs for RNs and LPNs.
Applications are invited for the permanent full-time position of Nursing Instructor I (NS-30). The successful applicant will facilitate clinical teaching of nursing students in adult medical-surgical settings, which involves the planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical courses in all programs offered by the CNS. The successful applicant will also develop, deliver, and evaluate instructional labs offered in any CNS program.
The position responsibilities include: participating in the clinical teaching and evaluation of students; preparing, delivering and evaluating instructional labs; student remedial learning activities and FIT Testing; faculty development; participation on CNS and other relevant committees; and contribution to professional activities. Applicants should be committed to evidence-informed practice.

Job Demands

Constantly moves/lifts up to 10 lbs., regularly moves/lifts up to 25 lbs. and occasionally is required to restrain/reposition/move/lift up to 30 lbs. Pushes/pulls up to medium force.
Constantly stands/walks and works in awkward or cramped positions to assist with procedures.
Constantly uses fine finger/precision, auditory, sensory and visual concentration to provide and conduct risk assessments, observe/monitor patients, to complete documents, follow directions, administer medications, etc.
May be subject to time pressures/deadlines and subject to lack of control over work pace.

Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized post-secondary nursing education program with a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required.
Current and continuing practicing license with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL) is required.
A minimum of three years experience within the last five working as a nurse in an adult medical-surgical clinical practice area with at least one year of experience either as a teacher of entry-level or formal post-basic nursing education programs, which include lab and clinical, or as an adult educator.
Demonstrated knowledge of instructional development, delivery and evaluation and demonstrated clinical expertise.
Demonstrated ability to provide strong and comprehensive clinical support, training and mentorship to students.
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills as demonstrated by presentations, facilitations and report-writing.
Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and able to work both collaboratively and with a high degree of independence and initiative.
Demonstrated effective time-management skills and the ability to prioritize.
Possess proven leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.

*Teaching experience must include experience teaching lab and/or clinical, or as an adult educator. This would include experience with adult education course design, development and evaluation in a health care setting.
