FACULTY OF NURSING

ASSISTANT TEACHING PROFESSOR (MONCTON)

The Faculty of Nursing at the University of New Brunswick invites applications from qualified individuals for a two-year term Assistant Teaching Professor position. This will be a full-time appointment at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. The position is located at the Moncton site with remote teaching responsibilities across all Faculty of Nursing locations. The position will commence on July 1, 2023.

Founded in 1785, UNB is one of the oldest public universities in North America which stands on the unsurrendered and unceded traditional Wolastoqey land. The Faculty of Nursing has a satellite campus in Moncton, a remote program delivered to the Miramichi, a living laboratory at the Fredericton Downtown Community Health Centre in Fredericton and a collaborative partnership for delivery of the BN Program with Humber College in Toronto.

All UNB sites share a common curriculum based on principles of primary health care, caring and social justice. Foundational to the curriculum are five abilities that are considered essential to working successfully in a primary healthcare environment. Outcomes for theory and clinical courses are intentionally designed and levelled across the program to ensure that graduates have developed the five requisite abilities. The Bachelor of Nursing degree has a 4-year undergraduate program offered in Fredericton, a 2-year accelerated program offered in Moncton and a Licensed Practical Nurse to Bachelor of Nursing (LPN-BN) remote pathway program offered in Miramichi. The integrated nature of our curriculum means that we can consider various areas of clinical and teaching expertise for this position. The Faculty of Nursing also offers a Master of Nursing Program with two streams: a thesis/research-based stream and a Nurse Practitioner stream. Successful applicants are expected to actively participate in governance and decision-making within the Faculty.

Qualifications: The successful candidate must hold a Master's Degree in Nursing or a related field, be eligible to obtain registration with the Nurses Association of New Brunswick and be registered prior to beginning this appointment. A demonstrated ability to teach effectively in virtual platforms is expected. Clinical expertise is required in primary health care across the lifespan. Experience using various advanced technologies to support teaching and learning is an asset. The successful candidate will be involved with both remote and in-person classroom, clinical and laboratory teaching responsibilities in the undergraduate programs. This role will include supporting student learning and academic advising within a virtual environment at our remote sites.

International applications should include evidence of completion of Stages 1 and 2 of the NANB registration process.

This position will begin July 1, 2023, dependent on the availability of a successful applicant and subject to final budgetary approval. Electronic application packages should include a cover letter outlining the reasons for seeking the position, a description of attributes you bring to the position, a teaching philosophy along with an up-to-date CV. The names and addresses (postal and email) of three referees one of whom should be a direct supervisor are to be included. Application packages may be submitted to:
