Halifax Water is hiring for two Information Services Technicians (Level I or II) in the Engineering and Technology Services Department. One of the available opportunities is a regular opportunity and the second opportunity is a term opportunity for a period of approximately 2 years; both opportunities offer full-time hours.
As an Information Services Technician Level I, you will:
- Support and maintain Halifax Water's computer systems, desktops and peripherals, including installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance.
As an Information Services Technician Level II, you will:
- Support and maintain Halifax Water's computer systems, including resolving escalated end user requests, installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading hardware and software while ensuring optimal workstation and network performance.
- Perform and provide support duties of IS Support Technician I as required due to workload or escalation.
To do this job, you need to have:
- Post-secondary diploma in Computer Science / Information Technology,
- 6 months experience relating to Information Technology Support and Communication (IS Support Technician I)
- 2 years of related experience (IS Support Technician II)
- Hands on experience with the following hardware/software:
- Office automation products (MS Suite - Word, Excel, Access, Outlook),
- Experience with Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems,
- Data Communication Protocols,
- Familiarity with the fundamental principles of ITIL,
- Client connection to applications, such as GIS and SCADA (would be an asset)
- AutoCAD and ESRI products experience (would be an asset)
- Certification in one of the following (IS Support Technician I):
- Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP)
- CompTIA Network+ and/or A+
- Equivalent certifications may be considered
- Certification in the following (IS Support Technician II):
- CompTIA Network+ and/or A+
- Plus, one of the following:
- Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP),
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA),
- Equivalent certifications may be considered
- Valid Driver's License and access to reliable transportation
