Southpointe is seeking an energetic, outgoing and collaborative teacher who shares a commitment to inquiry- and concept-based teaching and learning. Reporting to the Middle and Senior School Principal, the Middle and Senior School Assistant Principal will commence August 1, 2024.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

*These may include, but are not limited to...

  • Assume responsibility of day-to-day operations in the Middle/Senior School when the Middle/Senior School Principals are absent;
  • Regularly inform, collaborate and communicate with the Middle and Senior School Principals about all aspects related to the Middle/Senior School;
  • Identify staffing needs and play a leading and determinative role in the recruitment, hiring and retention of faculty;
  • Conduct formal performance evaluations of MYP/DP teachers;
  • Lead or assist in conflict resolution and/or performance review meetings with faculty members, in conjunction with the MS VP (MYP Coordinator);
  • Lead or assist in monitoring and managing the performance and duties of MYP/DP teachers;
  • Assist in the induction of new faculty members into the Middle/Senior Schools;
  • Serve as a direct resource for teachers in resolving day-to-day student conflict and behavioural issues;
  • Assume teaching responsibilities for designated subjects in the Middle/Senior School.

Qualifications

  • A deep understanding of the role of administrative leaders in independent schools;
  • Significant experience as a Grade 6-12 educator with an excellent track record of success;
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail;
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, managerial, presentation and public-speaking skills;
  • Effective conflict resolution skills;
  • Experience in a leadership role working across Middle/Senior;
  • Master of Education or higher level training in administration and leadership.

Preferences

  • IB training and experience working in the Middle Years and/or Diploma Programmes

Annual Salary

  • $125,000-$135,000 depending on qualifications and experience
