Position Summary:

Position: Supervisor

Type: Full-time

Location: CNUL Albian CS

Schedule: 7x7 – Rotating - Day shift and Night shift

Role Summary:

The Supervisor is responsible for coaching, resolving issues and serving as a link between subordinates and upper management. They may conduct regular inspections of the work to check for inconsistencies and deviations from company-established quality standards. The ideal candidate will be a competent individual who will be able to guide and train employees.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities for construction and extractive workers, such as heavy equipment operators, machine operators, and laborers.
  • Maintain physical asset security and condition.
  • Cost/expense control of the business, and monitoring of such, through verbal and written reports to be shared with the Site Supervisor on a regular basis.
  • Assign work to employees, based on job requirements, special job site conditions, and available equipment, material, and worker qualifications.
  • Conduct and/or attend worker line‐up and safety meetings.
  • Oversee and approve Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs) and work progress to verify conformance to safety standards, including sensors and personal work.
  • Conduct training for reporting personnel.
  • Demonstrate and explain use of equipment as required.
  • Evaluate operators on equipment use as required.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for employees.
  • Analyze organizational operating and safety practices and procedures.
  • Develop safe work assignment plans as necessary.
  • Estimate equipment, materials, and labor requirements.
  • Inspect project operations and site to determine specification compliance.
  • Maintain production and work records.
  • Monitor worker performance.

Education & Experience:

  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License is required.
    • Class 1 or 3 license is considered an asset.
  • 5-10 years' experience as an equipment operator is required.
  • 2-3 years' experience in a leadership position is required.
  • Solid understanding of safety and training legislation; competency, observation and evaluation skills.
  • Conflict and employee management.
  • Completion of Leadership for Safety Excellence Certification is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge with computers: Maximo, Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel
  • CSTS and OSSA Regional Orientation or OSSA BSO (Basic Safety Orientation before December 31, 2018) or CSO (Common Safety Orientation after January 1, 2019)
  • Judgment and decision-making; considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate.
  • Problem solving skills; the ability to tell when something is wrong or likely to go wrong. As well as the ability to be resourceful in solving problems that come up or effectively escalate issues as required.
  • Ability to listen, and actively participate in communicating effectively with employees, customers, and management.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of conditions.
  • Safety conscious attitude.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.
