Medical Office Assistant – In-person, full-time

About the job

Satori is seeking a full-time Medical Office Assistant (MOA) to join our fast-paced gynecological specialty clinic at Greenview Medical Centre. The MOA will work alongside an experienced gynecologist and other healthcare professionals to provide specialized health support services in a clinical setting.

The MOA will primarily be responsible for scheduling and confirming patient appointments, tests, and follow-ups and managing provider schedules. The ideal candidate must have superior telephone manners, strong customer service orientation and the ability to communicate and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with a multidisciplinary team. A combination of education, experience and strong computer skills will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Manage external and internal phone lines and transfer calls to appropriate personnel
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments, tests and follow-ups, and manage provider schedules
  • Greet and direct patients to appropriate medical resources and services
  • Update and maintain the electronic medical record system
  • Measure and document vital signs of each patient
  • Share information collected from patients with the appropriate medical team members
  • Handle confidential correspondence, including phone, email, fax and mail
  • Provide administrative support and perform clerical duties
  • Support the delivery of in-clinic programs
  • Prepare examination rooms with the necessary medical supplies and equipment
  • Help monitor inventory of medical supplies and materials and order as required 

Requirements

  • Diploma as a Medical Secretary, Medical Office Assistant or Unit Clerk is required
  • 1+ years of experience working as an MOA in a fast-paced work environment
  • Direct experience in supporting women's health and basic gynecologic knowledge considered an asset
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office and EMR systems, including Accuro and Netcare
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, data entry and record maintenance
  • Previous experience handling confidential or sensitive information; knowledge of applicable data privacy laws

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate and work effectively on a multidisciplinary team
  • Proficient in the use of computers and other office equipment
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients who do not speak English as their first language
