PRODUCT MANAGER

Based in Calgary and reporting to the Director of Technology, the Product Manager will be responsible for developing and managing new technology products. The incumbent in this position is expected to be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with a thorough understanding of the latest industry trends and best practices related to those products.

Key objectives for this position are to:

  • Develop product concepts and designs to facilitate market needs and user requirements.
  • Drive the product and business planning processes for cross-functional teams.
  • Assess current competitor offerings and seek opportunities for differentiation.
  • Analyze product requirements and develop appropriate programs to ensure they're met.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain product timelines across multiple departments.
  • Appraise new product ideas and strategize appropriate go-to-market plans.
  • Analyze customer needs, current market trends, and potential partnerships from an ROI and build-vs.-buy perspective.

Key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Drive the execution of all processes in the product lifecycle, including product and market research, competitor analysis, planning, positioning, requirements and roadmap development, and product launch.
  • Partner with the content owners to ensure proper documentation (launch forms etc.) are in place and updated regularly reflecting any changes.
  • Ensuring ample operational processes and supporting documentation is in place for the Operations team to properly provide excellent customer support.
  • Translate product strategy into detailed requirements for prototyping and final development by engineering and operations teams.
  • Create product strategy documents that describe business cases, high-level use cases, technical requirements, revenue, and ROI.
  • Analyze market data to develop sales strategies and define product objectives for effective marketing communications.
  • Work closely with the regulator to ensure all regulatory requirements are met and reported properly.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, marketing, and sales teams in the product development, QA, and release of products, and balance resources to ensure success for the entire organization.
  • Review usage statistics and analytical data from existing subscriber base to tweak product offerings for improving customer experience.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field. MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (X years) as an IT Product Manager or similar role in the IT industry.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.) and product management best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership and team collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience with project management tools, product management software, and CRM systems.

Other Requirements:

  • This is a full-time position (40 Hrs/week)
