Job Title: Purchasing associate – retail consumer goods and bulk food commodities (Import and Export).

About Us: Dass Imports International Ltd is a dynamic and rapidly growing company specializing in the distribution of food, agriculture and packaged consumer goods. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented purchasing associate with expertise in import and export of bulk food, agricultural & consumer-packaged goods (CPG), and Grocery, catering to both retail and bulk procurement. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing the end-to-end procurement process, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods while maintaining high-quality standards. This position requires a keen understanding of the CPG and Grocery industries, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  1. Market Analysis and Supplier Identification:

    • Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, pricing, and emerging products in the bulk food, agricultural, CPG and Grocery sectors.

    • Evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, and other key performance indicators.

  2. Negotiation and Contract Management:

    • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to secure favorable agreements.

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure a reliable and efficient supply chain.

  3. Order Placement and Tracking (import):

    • Generate purchase orders and manage the procurement process from order placement to delivery.

    • Collaborate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely and accurate product deliveries.

  4. Quality Assurance:

    • Work closely with quality assurance teams to establish and maintain product quality standards.

    • Address and resolve any quality issues with suppliers promptly.

  5. Cost Optimization:

    • Analyze costs and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising product quality.

    • Implement strategies to optimize procurement processes and reduce overall expenses.

  6. Collaboration and Communication:

    • Liaise with internal departments such as sales, marketing, and finance to understand their procurement needs.

    • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to align procurement activities with overall business objectives.

  7. Compliance and Risk Management:

    • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.

    • Identify and mitigate risks associated with procurement activities.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

· Proven experience (at least 5+ years) in purchasing – import/export, preferably within the bulk food, agriculture, CPG and Grocery industries.

· Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain positive supplier relationships.

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

· Knowledge of procurement software and tools.

· Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Additional Details:

· Competitive salary based on experience plus commission.

· On-site role with approximately 25% travel.
