About the Shopper Marketing Manager Role

The Shopper Marketing Manager supports the strategic delivery of the WG&S budget / plan. The position is responsible for leading the development and execution of programs that range from turnkey channel initiatives to custom retailer-driven shopper activations that strategically align brand and retailer objectives and ideally uniquely differentiates the WG&S portfolio with retailers and shoppers.

This position requires strong project leadership skills to bring Distinct Brand Assets (DBA), objectives, concepts, and priorities to life in-market.

The position supports the delivery of the William, Grant & Son's (WG&S) Canadian retail vision and strategy. Develop insights and learnings to identify Category and Customer Marketing priorities; optimize the activation of our brand plans across the shopper path to purchase; through measurement and evaluation and create disruptive activation strategies for execution at the point of purchase and builds increased consumer desirability for WG&S brands.

Key Deliverables

  • Support the delivery of the strategic brand imperatives (commercial guardrails) in the retail channel across Canada.
  • Develop customer insights and strategy.
  • Application of effective customer marketing levers across provincial retail customers.
  • Deliver initiatives within key accounts that support both brand and commercial objectives, strategically prioritized by customer.
  • Ruthlessly prioritize customer / brand opportunities to maximize ROI by brand.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of retail activity against pre-agreed objectives.
  • Drive greater efficiencies and best practice for the company.
  • Develop cross-functional networks within key internal and external customers.
  • Influence and work alongside senior marketing and commercial leads to co-ordinate timings, assets and delivery of activations.
  • Build and maintain excellent internal and external cross-functional relationships.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in business or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 3 years trade marketing / customer marketing / commercial experience
  • Previous CPG | Beverage Alcohol Industry Experience

Essential:

  • Good understanding of customers and their operations
  • Prior experience of retail trade / customer marketing, preferably within CPG. Beverage Alcohol category is desirable.
  • Commercial / business planning
  • Commercial acumen – understands impact of decisions on profitability.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to be adaptable and prioritize effectively.
