TAX MANAGER

OBJECTIVE

Do you consider yourself a tax protege, and an ambitious individual, looking to grow in your career in the public accounting sector while working beside the Tax Partner and other Senior Managers?

Well, we are looking for a progressively experienced public accounting professional with a focus on tax, for a Tax Manager position for one of our clients.

You will play a critical role in providing your expert knowledge and experience in taxation while assisting the Tax Partner, giving you great exposure to senior management in the company. The company has been in business since the 1960s and has been growing ever since, not just in local markets in Canada but also internationally. This position will truly allow you to work in a booming firm while gaining exposure to various areas and jurisdictions of tax with mentorship.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Tax Planning Support:

  • Collaborate with the Tax Partner to develop and implement tax planning services.

  • Research complex tax issues and prepare concise memoranda.

Specialized Tax Engagements:

  • Handle unique tax assignments.

  • Complete complex tax returns efficiently.

Review and Optimize:

  • Evaluate a diverse range of corporate tax returns.

  • Ensure accuracy, minimize tax liabilities, and identify credits.

Strategic Recommendations:

  • Propose tax strategies aligned with the firm's vision.

Additional Contributions:

  • Fulfil other assigned duties.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Experience:

  • 4+ years of experience in complex tax within public accounting.

Certifications:

  • Must have completed your CPA.

  • LPA designation is a plus.

Education:

  • Completion of the In-Depth Tax Course (CPA Ontario) is strongly preferred.

Software Proficiency:

  • Expertise in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).

  • Familiarity with CaseWare / CaseView, TaxPrep, and other tax research tools.

Skills:

  • High attention to detail.

  • Strong analytical abilities.

  • Effective problem-solving both independently and within a team.

Communication:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

This position will require relocation which could be beneficial for the professional looking for an area with a lower cost of living outside the GTA.
