Job Overview:
The core responsibility of this position will be to manage the full employee life-cycle for all Vortex Freight Systems companies. This is a hands-on position, with a focus on recruitment and on-boarding. You will also be responsible for general Human Resource functions including policy development, compensation, employee relations, benefit and payroll administration support and special projects. This position will work with all employee levels and management within our North American divisions.


Responsibilities and Duties:


Talent Acquisition
• Work with the Management team to understand and plan for current and future hiring needs
• Develop a recruitment strategy utilizing a combination of traditional and evolving recruitment methods
• Manage the full recruitment cycle from identifying selection criteria; selecting appropriate advertising methods; candidate screening and testing; initial interviews; reference checking; preparing job offers; and successful onboarding.
• Work with management on developing a strategic retention plan, based on evolving market conditions
• Ensure all employment terms comply with local legislation

General Human Resources

• Provide support in developing and implementing internal policies and procedures and communicating any changes to management as well as employees
• Coach employees and people leaders to role model behaviours that support our company values and culture
• Focus on customer service mentality to provide guidance and training to managers as it relates to HR practices
• Develop relationships with all Vortex team members and be main point to contact for any employee relation matters
• Oversee basic Health and Safety programs to comply with local legislation
• Assist with payroll and benefits administration
• Work with management on special projects as they arise

Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor Degree or Diploma in related field is required
• Minimum three (3) years Human Resources position, with recruitment experience is required
• Knowledge of Ontario employment legislation is a must
• Ability to work independently and must be a self-starter
• Flexible and able to adapt to all scenarios in a calm and respectful manner.
• Organized and solution oriented.
• Proactive and out-of-the-box thinking
• Ability to multi-task while maintaining a high quality of work.
• Strong team player
• Some travel required
