Summary:

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Purchaser is responsible for coordinating professional work in the technical and administrative function of the purchasing activities. This position is responsible for the procurement of supplies, inventory and professional services that are to be conducted in accordance of the Purchasing Policy, governing agreements and applicable legislation guidelines.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Purchasing

The incumbent will:

  • Promote and embrace the Aquatera Code of Conduct, Values and Principles
  • Provide high level customer service to internal client departments and vendors
  • Be responsible for the procuring and/or coordinating of supplies and services that are required by departments in accordance with all policies and procedures
  • Process change orders of requisitions and confer with departments regarding requirements, specifications, quantity, quality and delivery. Recommend alternatives that could result in greater value
  • Confer with suppliers to obtain information on required products and services
  • Negotiate pricing to ensure the lowest possible cost for the best available product that is obtained
  • Maintain daily PO reports and other reports assigned
  • Record savings on the economic impact report
  • Review and execute purchase orders and requisitions within delegated authority
  • Effectively communicate purchasing policies and procedures to all personnel and interpret said policies and procedures as necessary
  • Assist with the Procurement Manager on RFQ's on preferred vendors – yearly contracts
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and documentation on all solicitations, responses, purchases, contracts, correspondence, and related follow-up
  • Assist with support to the requisitioners within the departments: sourcing, software training
  • Be responsible for monitoring the disposal of surplus equipment, vehicles, materials, and supplies
  • Provide assistance with maintenance of vendor and commodity files
  • Co-ordinate and schedule freight/deliveries as required
  • Receive purchases (electronically and physically)
  • Purchasers to manage the generic department inbox
  • Cross train - Back up support for other Purchasers for tasks that are required
  • Cross train – Back up support for Delivery Driver position
  • Other duties as required

Inventory

  • Under the direction of the Procurement Manager, work with Inventory Team and locations to provide support as required within the ERP system
  • Assist with warranty and stock maintenance for meters
  • Perform maintenance of ERP system updates (costs, descriptions, bin locations)
  • Participate in reporting and auditing
  • Conduct cycle counts and inventory valuation
  • Other related duties as required

Qualifications/Requirements

The successful candidate must be legally entitled to work in Canada and:

  • Possess a High School diploma or GED and minimum 2 years' experience in buying and/or inventory maintenance
  • Be working toward a procurement designation such as SCMP (would be considered an asset)
  • Have good working knowledge of computers, including automated purchasing systems.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Converting PDF files, Powerpoint, Sharepoint) – Basic
  • Have a valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license
  • 5-Year Driver's Abstract satisfactory to the employer will be required as a condition of employment

Working Conditions

  • This is a full-time, Permanent position. Normal hours of work include 40 hours per week.
  • Work is performed in an office environment and warehouse at the Central Warehouse location
  • Travel to other Aquatera sites will be required

As a condition of employment the successful candidate will be required to:

  • Pass a pre-employment physical fitness test
  • Provide a Valid Canadian driver's license (min Class 5)
  • Provide a 5-Year Driver's Abstract satisfactory to the employer
  • Pass a Drug & Alcohol Test
