Based in Ottawa, NutriChem Pharmacy & Clinic brings naturopathic medicine, pharmacy, compounding, laboratory testing, custom vitamins and personalized healthcare together under one roof.

We believe exceptional healthcare starts with understanding the whole patient and connecting them with the right care, services and support.

We're looking for a reliable, detail-oriented and motivated Compounding Lab Assistant to join our Compounding Lab team and support the preparation of high-quality, personalized medications.

The Opportunity

Are you someone who enjoys hands-on work, has exceptional attention to detail and takes pride in getting things right?

As our Compounding Lab Assistant, you'll play an important role in preparing customized prescription medications, including capsules, creams, gels, solutions and suspensions.

Working alongside our pharmacists and laboratory team, you'll support the preparation of hazardous and non-hazardous medications, maintain accurate documentation and help ensure our laboratory operates safely and efficiently.

Previous compounding experience is an asset, but not required. We provide comprehensive training in our compounding procedures, equipment and safety standards. We're looking for someone who is eager to learn, comfortable with technology and committed to accuracy and quality.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in developing specialized technical skills in a collaborative healthcare environment.

What You'll Do

  • Medication Compounding: Prepare customized prescription medications, including capsules, creams, gels, solutions and suspensions, following established formulas and procedures.
  • Accuracy & Quality Control: Carefully weigh, measure and document ingredients, perform quality checks and ensure accuracy throughout the compounding process.
  • Laboratory Documentation: Maintain accurate prescription logs, ingredient records and production documentation using laboratory management software.
  • Inventory & Supplies: Receive, organize and track pharmaceutical ingredients, raw materials, packaging and laboratory supplies.
  • Safety & Compliance: Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), laboratory safety requirements and established quality standards.
  • Laboratory Maintenance: Maintain clean, organized and sanitized workspaces, equipment and compounding areas, completing required cleaning and environmental logs.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with pharmacists and laboratory colleagues to support daily production, manage priorities and maintain efficient workflows.

What We're Looking For

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to follow precise instructions and procedures consistently.
  • Strong computer and technology skills, with confidence learning new software and digital systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy, fast-paced environment.
  • A reliable, focused and methodical approach to work, with a strong commitment to quality and patient safety.
  • Good manual dexterity and comfort performing repetitive, precision-based tasks.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday and safely lift and handle laboratory materials and supplies.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn and openness to feedback and ongoing training.
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, laboratory, manufacturing or other detail-oriented environment is an asset.
  • Pharmacy or Laboratory Assistant education and previous compounding experience are considered assets, but are not required.

Why Join NutriChem?

At NutriChem, you'll be part of a collaborative team that is passionate about personalized healthcare and making a meaningful difference in patients' lives.

You'll receive hands-on training in specialized pharmaceutical compounding techniques and have the opportunity to develop valuable technical skills while working alongside experienced pharmacists and laboratory professionals.

We value individuals who demonstrate integrity, collaboration, initiative and a genuine commitment to quality, safety and exceptional patient care.
