The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced 313A Refrigeration Technician with hands-on ammonia (NH) systems experience to join an industrial refrigeration service team.
You will install, commission, troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial refrigeration equipment at customer sites. This role is suited to a technician who enjoys solving complex problems, working independently in the field and building strong customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, maintain and repair industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia refrigeration equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, controls and system performance issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, testing and performance checks to support safe, reliable and efficient operation.
- Complete work in accordance with manufacturer specifications, applicable codes, company standards and ammonia safety practices.
- Identify equipment deficiencies and recommend repairs or system improvements to customers and internal teams.
- Provide professional, responsive service and clearly communicate findings, recommendations and work completed.
- Accurately complete service reports, inspection records, maintenance logs and documentation of parts and materials used.
- Work independently at customer sites and collaborate with technicians, supervisors and support staff.
- Maintain service vehicles, tools and equipment in safe working condition.
- Participate in safety programs and follow established safe work procedures.
- Valid 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic license.
- Minimum five years of hands-on industrial refrigeration experience, including demonstrated experience servicing, troubleshooting and repairing ammonia (NH) systems.
- Experience supporting refrigeration applications such as cold storage, food processing, ice rinks, process cooling or industrial production cooling.
- Strong diagnostic skills across mechanical, electrical and control systems.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and contribute effectively within a service team.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong attention to detail, accurate documentation skills and a commitment to safe, quality workmanship.
- Effective communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach.
- Experience and qualifications related to gas, oil and burner systems are an asset, but are not required.
- Compensation aligned with Local 787 journeyman rates.
