Research tools, organoids & advanced cell models

Location: Vancouver, Canada
Employment type: Full-time
Compensation: Starting base salary of CAD $80,000 per year, depending on relevant experience and qualifications, plus three performance-based bonus opportunities annually.

Company overview

Founded in 2004, Applied Biological Materials (abm) Inc. develops and commercializes life science tools that support scientific research and drug discovery. Our technologies and product portfolio include cell engineering, CRISPR gene editing, induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), stem cell differentiation, organoids, and advanced cell models.

Headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, with operations in the United States, China, and France, abm serves academic institutions, biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, contract research organizations (CROs), and government research laboratories worldwide.

To support our continued expansion, we are seeking a commercially minded Product Manager, iPSC & Regenerative Medicine to lead product strategy and commercialization for research tools supporting stem cell biology, regenerative medicine research, disease modeling, and drug discovery.

Position overview

The Product Manager will manage a portfolio of iPSC-derived cells, stem cell products, organoids, cell culture reagents, and advanced cell-model solutions. The role spans opportunity assessment, product development, launch planning, and ongoing commercial growth.

Working closely with R&D, New Product Development (NPD), Marketing, Sales, Technical Support, and Operations, the successful candidate will translate scientific capabilities and customer needs into differentiated products, clear value propositions, and measurable business results.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of commercial experience in a life science tools company, a strong scientific foundation, and the ambition to take ownership of a growing product portfolio.

Key responsibilities

Product strategy and market development

  • Conduct market, customer, and competitive research to identify unmet needs, emerging applications, and growth opportunities.
  • Develop product roadmaps and business cases that assess market potential, customer demand, pricing, margins, and development requirements.
  • Recommend portfolio priorities aligned with company capabilities and commercial objectives.
  • Establish relationships with customers, application experts, and potential partners to inform product strategy.

Product development and launch

  • Work with R&D and NPD to define product requirements, intended applications, performance expectations, and validation priorities.
  • Coordinate cross-functional milestones from opportunity assessment through validation and launch readiness.
  • Identify and coordinate beta-testing partners, collect structured feedback, and recommend product improvements.
  • Develop positioning, value propositions, pricing recommendations, and launch plans.
  • Partner with Marketing and Technical Support to prepare accurate product descriptions, application content, and launch materials.

Commercial execution and portfolio management

  • Support Sales and international distributors through product training, competitive comparisons, and customer-facing presentations.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to develop target accounts, generate opportunities, and drive customer adoption.
  • Monitor product revenue, margins, adoption, and customer feedback against agreed objectives.
  • Recommend actions to improve commercial performance, expand applications, and strengthen the portfolio.
  • Evaluate emerging opportunities in regenerative medicine research, disease modeling, drug screening, and New Approach Methodologies (NAMs).

Qualifications

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in cell biology, stem cell biology, molecular biology, bioengineering, pharmacology, or a related discipline.
  • Preferably 3–5 years of commercial experience in a life science tools company, including product management, product marketing, business development, scientific sales, or a related customer-facing role.
  • Strong technical understanding of iPSCs, stem cell differentiation, organoids, differentiated cell models, and/or advanced cell culture systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate scientific knowledge and customer requirements into commercially relevant product offerings.
  • Sound business judgment and an understanding of pricing, competitive positioning, margins, and revenue growth.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and cross-functional project-management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, exercise initiative, and deliver results in a growing organization.

Preferred experience

  • Successful commercialization or launch of life science research products.
  • Experience serving biotechnology, pharmaceutical, CRO, or academic customers.
  • Experience supporting international sales teams or distributor networks.
  • Familiarity with high-content analysis, automated workflows, or other applications relevant to advanced cell models.

Candidates with closely related experience and a demonstrated record of commercial achievement will also be considered.

Candidate profile

We are seeking an ambitious, business-oriented professional who combines scientific curiosity with a strong focus on customer value and commercial results. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, accountability, collaborative leadership, and a commitment to developing the portfolio and their management capabilities.

Compensation and career development

The position offers a starting base salary of CAD $80,000 per year, depending on relevant experience and qualifications, together with three performance-based bonus opportunities annually. Bonus awards are determined by company and individual performance.

The role provides an opportunity to influence product strategy, work closely with scientific and commercial leadership, and assume increasing responsibility as the business grows.
