About CKNW Kids' Fund
CKNW Kids' Fund is dedicated to enhancing the lives of children living with challenges in British Columbia. Through the generosity of donors, sponsors, community partners and supporters, the Fund helps provide children and families with access to essential programs, services and opportunities.
We are looking for an energetic, highly organized and creative Communications, Partnerships & Events Lead to help tell our story, strengthen relationships with our supporters and deliver memorable fundraising and community events.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications, Partnerships & Events Lead plays a key role in increasing awareness, engagement and support for CKNW Kids' Fund.
This is a hands-on position combining communications and storytelling, corporate and community partnerships, sponsorship activation, and event planning and execution.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator and relationship builder who enjoys taking an idea from concept through execution. You will work closely with donors, sponsors, volunteers, community organizations, suppliers and media partners to create meaningful experiences and advance the mission of CKNW Kids' Fund.
Communications & Storytelling
- Develop and execute communications plans that build awareness of CKNW Kids' Fund, its programs, events and community impact.
- Create engaging content for the website, social media, email communications, donor materials, campaigns, presentations and promotional materials.
- Identify and develop compelling stories that demonstrate the impact of the Fund on children and families throughout British Columbia.
- Write and edit key messages, speaking notes, profiles, event materials and other communications.
- Maintain a consistent and professional brand voice across communications and campaigns.
- Coordinate communications and promotional opportunities with CKNW and other media and community partners.
- Monitor communications and digital engagement and identify opportunities to grow awareness and participation.
Sponsorships & Partnerships
- Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate sponsors, community partners and other supporters.
- Identify prospective sponsors and partnership opportunities aligned with the Fund's mission and activities.
- Develop sponsorship proposals, presentations, benefit packages and partnership materials.
- Coordinate sponsorship agreements, recognition, activation and stewardship.
- Ensure sponsor benefits and commitments are delivered accurately and professionally.
- Work creatively with partners to develop activations that provide value to sponsors while supporting the Fund's fundraising and community objectives.
- Maintain sponsorship records, timelines and deliverables and contribute to post-campaign and event reporting.
Signature Events & Fundraising
Lead the planning, coordination and execution of CKNW Kids' Fund signature fundraising and community events, including:
Pledge Day — Coordinate the Fund's signature fundraising day, working with donors, sponsors, media partners, volunteers and the CKNW team to support fundraising, communications and donor engagement.
Biannual Golf Tournament — Plan and execute the Fund's golf tournament, including sponsorships, golfer and guest experience, suppliers, volunteers, fundraising activities, communications and event-day logistics.
Pink Shirt Day — Support the Fund's involvement in Pink Shirt Day through partner and sponsor coordination, communications, promotional activities, fundraising initiatives and community engagement.
Picnic at Playland — Plan and coordinate this special community event, creating a welcoming and memorable experience for participating children and families while engaging sponsors, community partners and volunteers.
Across all events, the Lead will:
- Develop event plans, budgets, timelines and production schedules.
- Coordinate venues, suppliers, entertainment, food and beverage, signage and event logistics.
- Coordinate volunteers and event participants.
- Develop and deliver sponsor recognition and event activations.
- Manage invitations, registration, guest communications and on-site experience.
- Work with media and community partners to increase event awareness and participation.
- Ensure events are delivered professionally, safely, on budget and in keeping with the CKNW Kids' Fund brand.
- Complete post-event evaluation, budget reconciliation and sponsor reporting.
- Identify opportunities to increase participation, sponsorship revenue, donor engagement and community impact.
Donor & Community Engagement
- Support donor stewardship and recognition through thoughtful communications, events and engagement opportunities.
- Build positive relationships with donors, volunteers, sponsors, community organizations and other stakeholders.
- Represent CKNW Kids' Fund professionally at events, meetings and community activities.
- Work collaboratively with the Executive Director and Fund team to identify new opportunities for engagement and fundraising.
What You Bring
- Post-secondary education in communications, marketing, public relations, fundraising, event management or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Approximately 4–6 years of relevant experience in communications, events, sponsorship, fundraising, marketing or community engagement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated event planning and project management experience.
- Strong relationship-building skills and confidence working with corporate partners, donors, volunteers and community stakeholders.
- Experience with sponsorship development, proposals and sponsor activation is an asset.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and details simultaneously.
- Digital communications and social media experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with CRM, email marketing and website platforms.
- Experience in the charitable/nonprofit sector, fundraising, media or community organizations is an asset.
- Flexibility to attend occasional evening and weekend events as required.
