Position: Head Chef - Seasonal Full-Time
Wage: $25.00/hour plus tips
Hours: 40-50 hours/week
Term: May 5, 2027 - September 16, 2027
Location: Alder Bay / Port McNeill, BC
Roxy's Diner is seeking an experienced Head Chef to oversee kitchen operations for our busy seasonal food-service operation.
The successful candidate will prepare and oversee food production, maintain quality and food-safety standards, coordinate
kitchen operations, manage inventory and supplies, and supervise and train kitchen staff.
Responsibilities
• Prepare, cook and oversee preparation of meals and menu items.
• Plan and coordinate daily kitchen operations and service workflow.
• Maintain consistent standards for food quality, taste, portioning and presentation.
• Assist with menu planning and development.
• Estimate food requirements and monitor food and labour costs.
• Monitor inventory and coordinate ordering of food, ingredients and kitchen supplies.
• Inspect preparation and storage areas and maintain sanitation and food-safety practices.
• Supervise, coordinate and train kitchen staff.
• Coordinate food preparation during high-volume service periods.
• Maintain organized work areas and equipment and minimize food waste.
• Work collaboratively with ownership and front-of-house staff.
• Perform cooking and other kitchen duties as required.
Qualifications
• Previous professional cooking experience required.
• Previous experience as a chef, senior cook, kitchen lead or similar role is an asset.
• Experience supervising or coordinating kitchen staff is an asset.
• Knowledge of commercial kitchen operations and food-safety practices.
• Ability to execute menu items consistently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to organize kitchen operations and prioritize tasks during busy service periods.
• Reliable and able to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays as required during the season.
Compensation and scheduling: $25.00/hour plus tips. Approximately 40-50 hours per week depending on seasonal and operational requirements. Overtime will be compensated in accordance with applicable British Columbia employment standards where required.
