About Salad Oasis

Salad Oasis is a boutique, specialized hydroponic greens and mushroom cultivation business operating out of a modern climate-controlled indoor commercial facility. We pride ourselves on delivering premium-quality produce to culinary markets and chefs across the region.

Position Overview

As the Indoor Farm Production Assistant, you will be the hands-on engine driving both our hydroponic green lines and our specialty mushroom cultivation. Working closely with the founder, you will divide your time between greens harvesting and managing the mushroom substrate preparation and fruiting cycles of our mushroom operations.

Key Responsibilities

The operations involve 2 independent climate-controlled growing room, one for hydroponic greens and the other for mushrooms.

For hydroponic greens:

- Cultivation & Seeding: Execute daily seeding protocols for microgreens and specialized crops using precise weights, media preparation, and germination scheduling.

- Harvesting & Processing: Hand-harvest delicate greens with extreme care, sorting for quality and prepping yields for distribution according to strict aesthetic and market standards.

- Packaging & Fulfilment: Weigh, pack, and label finished products into premium packaging, ensuring uniform weights and label placement for chef orders.

- Sanitation: Perform cleaning and sterilization of growing trays, reservoirs, tools, and processing surfaces. Maintain a clean facility footprint to eliminate contamination risks.

- Climate & Data Logging: Assist in monitoring and logging daily environmental data (pH, electrical conductivity, humidity, temperature) to maintain optimal indoor crop climates.

For mushroom:

- Substrate Preparation & Sterilization: Measure, hydrate, and blend raw substrate materials. Load and operate sterilization equipment safely according to thermal cycles.

- Incubation & Crop Monitoring: Monitor colonizing blocks during the incubation phase, logging environmental metrics and scanning for early signs of contamination.

- Fruiting Room Management & Harvest: Move colonized blocks into the fruiting chamber, slice blocks strategically to initiate pinning, and maintain humidity/CO2 logs. Hand-harvest gourmet mushrooms cleanly at peak culinary maturity to protect shelf life.

- Facility Sanitation & Maintenance: Perform deep-cleaning and chemical sterilization of fruiting racks, tools, and processing surfaces. Maintain a clean footprint to completely minimize contamination risk across both crop systems.

What We Are Looking For (Job Requirements)

- The "Methodical Executor" Mindset: You genuinely enjoy routine, structure, and following precise, step-by-step instructions without taking unauthorized shortcuts.

- Obsession with Cleanliness: High attention to detail regarding hygiene and order.

- Physical Stamina & Agility: Comfortable standing for extended periods, executing repetitive manual tasks (cutting, seeding, washing), and lifting up to 40 lbs.

- Coachability: Highly receptive to constructive feedback, with a desire to learn specialized indoor farming techniques and strictly mirror established systems.

- Reliability: Punctual, accountable, and deeply dependable. You treat your scheduled shift as a firm commitment.

What We Offer

- Stable, Year-Round Work: No seasonal layoffs or weather-dependent hours. Work in a clean, predictable, indoor climate-controlled commercial environment.

- Predictable Scheduling: Consistent day shifts with no evening or overnight on-call requirements.

- Growth Potential: Learn the mechanics of commercial hydroponics and mycology from the ground up, with opportunities for increased responsibility as the business scales.
