Calgary, AB
Détails de l'emploi :
Every truck that leaves the shop on time has a story behind it, and more often than not, it starts with the parts. When the right part is in the right bay before the unit rolls in, technicians work faster, downtime drops, and the whole operation runs better.
This is your chance to be the person who makes that happen. As Parts Manager, you will own how parts move through the shops, from purchasing and holding to kitting and releasing. You will see the impact of your work in the numbers that matter most: shop uptime, parts availability, and technician utilization.
It is a fast-paced transportation environment with shifting priorities. It is built for someone who loves thinking two steps ahead, spotting problems before they happen, and turning a busy shop into a well-oiled machine.
Why This Opportunity Is Different
This is not a back-office purchasing role. You will sit at the centre of the shop, working hand in hand with Service Writers, Kitters, technicians and shop leadership. You will also report directly to the Rolling Assets & Repair Director, which means real visibility and a direct line to the people making decisions.
You will have a clear mandate to improve how things work. That includes partnering with the Operations Manager and Supply Chain Manager to find cost savings, driving process innovation in kitting and in-shop warehousing, and contributing to special projects such as the tire program.
The organization has positioned this role as a stepping stone into senior roles within the Maintenance & Procurement division, so the growth path is real. And you will be joining a team that leads with teamwork, safety, innovation, accountability, integrity and respect.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead the daily kitting process so every kit is inspected, complete, clearly marked and staged in the right bay before the vehicle arrives
- Keep shop inventory accurate and sufficiently stocked through cycle counts, full counts, par levels and disciplined parts issuing
- Place and coordinate orders for parts, consumables, tools and safety equipment, and keep pickups and deliveries on schedule
- Hold vendors to quality, delivery and contract commitments, and escalate issues before they affect the shop
- Track warranty exchange programs and gather the data behind parts KPIs including shop uptime, parts availability, SRT overage, and parts shrinkage and gain
- Reduce equipment downtime by balancing parts availability against operating needs and controlling out-of-service equipment
- Respond to emergency and non-scheduled parts events, sourcing critical parts fast when equipment is down
- Run a safe, organized in-shop warehouse and manage secure distribution of company safety gear
- Identify and drive improvements in inventory, ordering and warehousing, and support special projects and continuous improvement initiatives
- Five or more years of parts management experience, or supply chain management or inventory control experience in a supervisory role
- An undergraduate degree in business or supply chain management
- Strong understanding of fleet maintenance processes and the metrics that measure their performance
- Solid mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment, trucks, reefers, and trailer body and chassis, with strong diagnosis and troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of commercial motor vehicles, transportation industry dynamics and safety standards
- Proficiency with MS Office and proprietary engine and component software programs
- Analytical, detail-focused problem solver who can prioritize, multitask and deliver under tight timelines
- A confident communicator who influences through facts and relationships, both with internal teams and a vendor network
- Experience with fleets, heavy equipment, commercial motor vehicles, specialized vehicles or trailers is a strong asset
- A post-graduate degree in supply chain, logistics or purchasing, or a related professional certification, is an asset
$75000 - $95000 per annum
This role is based in the shop environment, working directly alongside technicians and shop leadership.
