Role Overview Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to manage bi-weekly payroll and benefits administration for hourly and salaried employees across multiple entities. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of Ontario payroll legislation, excellent attention to detail, and hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now.
Key Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees across multiple entities using ADP Workforce Now.
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately and in compliance with federal and provincial legislation, including the Employment Standards Act.
- Manage employee onboarding and offboarding within payroll, benefits, and pension systems.
- Prepare Records of Employment (ROEs) and support termination-related payroll requirements.
- Administer employee benefits and pension programs, including enrolments, changes, terminations, and reconciliations.
- Calculate and process payroll, benefits, and pension adjustments for new hires, employee changes, and terminations.
- Prepare monthly WSIB filings and support annual WSIB, EHT, and pension reconciliations.
- Prepare and distribute year-end tax documents, including T4s and T4As.
- Respond to payroll and benefits inquiries from employees and external agencies, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Identify opportunities to automate payroll processes and collaborate with payroll providers on system and accounting integrations.
- Assist with compensation analysis, budgeting, and other finance-related projects as required.
- 3–5+ years of hands-on payroll experience, ideally processing both hourly and salaried employees.
- Strong experience with ADP Workforce Now.
- Experience administering employee benefits and pension programs; pension plan experience is an asset.
- Strong understanding of Ontario payroll legislation, ESA, WSIB, and related statutory requirements.
- PCP certification or higher is strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a service-oriented approach.
- Comfortable working independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
- Experience within a healthcare or professional services environment is an asset.
- Knowledge of healthcare billing, financial processes, or electronic medical/administrative systems is an asset.
- 3-month contract
- Monday to Friday
- Occasional weekends or holidays as required
- Primarily office-based
