Position Type: Part-time, Non-Union, Contract (15 hours/week)
Wage: $20.26/hour + 4% vacation pay
Contract Period: September 2, 2026 – June 29, 2027
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Location: 21 Panorama Court, Etobicoke, ON
Position Summary
The After School Snack Program Worker helps plan and run after-school activities, trips, and events for children and youth aged 4–24 who live in north Etobicoke. You'll play a key role in the day-to-day life of the program — from leading activities to preparing snacks to being a positive, encouraging presence for participants.
What You'll Do
Program Delivery
• Plan and lead age-appropriate activities for after-school participants, in line with funder requirements
• Help deliver the program's three core components: homework and arts & crafts; snack preparation and nutrition activities; and sports and physical activities
• Supervise participants throughout after-school programming
• Help create a positive, creative, and emotionally supportive environment
• Model and teach positive social interaction and problem-solving skills
• Keep the program space safe, clean, and well-stocked with supplies
• Be available to work occasional evening shifts
Team Collaboration
• Report any challenges or emergencies to the Site Lead/Coordinator promptly
• Work collaboratively with the team to plan and deliver activities, events, and trips
• Identify your own training needs and growth opportunities
• Attend team and staff meetings
Administration
• Record and maintain participant information in Kidtrax
• Keep attendance records and site information up to date
• Record, maintain, and submit incident reports as needed
• Submit timesheets on time
Snack Program & Nutrition
• Plan, prepare, and help run the daily snack program
• Set up and clean up the site each day
• Help prepare and serve snacks
• Help maintain the cleanliness and safety of kitchen equipment
• Follow all policies on child protection, food hygiene, health and safety, and confidentiality, reporting concerns to the Program Manager
• Assist with grocery shopping for the program
Meetings
• Attend and actively take part in BGC staff meetings and special event meetings
What You'll Bring
• Basic knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety, first aid, safe lifting, and fire prevention
• Ability to follow Canada's Food Guide when planning menus
• Located in or near the M9V postal code
• Experience delivering a nutrition or food preparation program involving children and youth
• Experience working or volunteering with culturally diverse children
• Experience supervising children and youth
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Good organizational and interpersonal skills
Requirements
• Clear police record check (vulnerable sector)
• Current Emergency First Aid certificate
• WHMIS training/certification
• Food Handling certificate
