Job Opportunity: Junior Fuel Management Technician

Location: Kamloops, BC

Compensation: $22 to $25 hourly

WHAT YOU WILL DO

As a member of the Forsite Fire team, the Junior Fuel Management Technician will provide technical and field support to a team of intermediate and senior wildland fire specialists on a range of wildfire risk reduction projects. Tasks would include, but are not limited to:

  • Fuel plot data collection
  • Wildfire hazard surveys
  • Fuel treatment unit / block layout and GPS traversing
  • Riparian and ecological assessments
  • Support for prescription development
  • Fuel treatment supervision

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Requirements:

  • A passion for forestry and working outdoors
  • Valid driver's licence with a clean abstract
  • Post-secondary education with a natural resource management focus is preferred
  • Eligibility for registration as a designated professional would be an asset
  • Must be physically fit
  • Must provide personal field gear (boots, cruise vest, rain gear)
  • Background in timber development and/or wildfire fighting would be an asset
  • Willing to travel as needed to support clients and project work
  • A safety-conscious attitude
