Position Title: Senior Accountant, Assurance

POSITION
D&H Group LLP is seeking a Senior Assurance Accountant to join our growing team of professionals. This role is ideal for a CPA or a CFE writer with public practice experience who enjoys working directly with clients, leading assurance engagements, and mentoring junior team members in a collaborative mid-sized public accounting firm.
In this role, you will work closely with managers and partners to deliver high-quality audit, review, and compilation engagements while building strong client relationships. You will also play an important role in coaching junior staff and contributing to the continued success of our assurance team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and participate in audit, review, and compilation engagements for a diverse portfolio of clients, with a primary focus on assurance engagements
- Act as a senior member of assurance teams, taking responsibility for planning, coordinating, and executing audit and review engagements from start to completion
- Prepare and review financial statements and supporting working papers in accordance with ASPE, ASNPO, and IFRS standards
- Build strong relationships with clients by understanding their businesses and providing exceptional service throughout engagements
- Communicate directly with clients, managers, and partners to resolve accounting and assurance matters
- Supervise, coach, and mentor CPA students and junior staff, both in the office and at client sites
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the assurance team through knowledge sharing and collaboration
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- CPA designation in good standing, or currently pursuing CPA designation and having recently written or preparing to write the CFE
- Minimum of 2 years of Canadian public practice experience, including audit, review, and compilation engagements
- Strong knowledge of ASPE, ASNPO, IFRS, and Canadian Auditing Standards
- Experience preparing financial statements and working papers for assurance engagements
- Proficiency with CaseWare, Taxprep, Microsoft Office Suite, and other accounting software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with Spanish language skills considered an asset
- Strong interpersonal and client relationship skills, with the ability to build rapport and communicate accounting concepts clearly
- Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a collaborative approach to mentoring and supporting junior team members
