The Casual Event Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality food for banquets, weddings, conferences, and special events. This position works on an as-needed basis and requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, quality standards, and event timelines.
- Assist with food preparation before events, including portioning, chopping, and organizing ingredients.
- Ensure all food is presented professionally and served at the appropriate temperature.
- Work efficiently with the banquet and kitchen team to ensure smooth event execution.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area in accordance with food safety regulations.
- Properly store food and label products following FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.
- Assist with setting up and breaking down banquet kitchen stations.
- Monitor food quality and report any shortages or equipment issues to the Chef.
- Follow all health, safety, and workplace policies.
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, banquet, or catering environment preferred.
- Food Safe Level 1 Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality standards.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
