We are seeking a skilled Steel Fitter to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the manufacture and erection of steel members, such as stairs, guardrails, and structural steel. This role requires a strong understanding of blueprint reading, welding techniques, and mechanical systems to ensure precise and safe fabrication and installation of steel components, such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.

Pay Rate: $28.00/hr

Shifts Available: 7:00am to 4:00pm

Start Date: Asap

Duties
  • Read and interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately assemble steel structures.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment (MIG and TIG), plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other machinery to cut, shape, and weld steel components.
  • Perform rigging operations to lift and position heavy steel sections safely using cranes and forklifts.
  • Measure materials with calipers and other measuring devices to ensure precise fitting according to specifications.
  • Assemble ductwork, structural supports, and other steel components in accordance with project plans.
  • Follow all safety protocols during all phases of fabrication and installation.
  • Collaborate with project managers and detailers on any changes that need to be made to meet project deadlines efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by organizing tools and disposing of waste materials properly.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in structural steel fitting and fabrication.
  • Familiar with welding (MIG/TIG) or related manufacturing roles.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read blueprints, schematics, and assembly instructions.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, plasma cutters, press brake machines, calipers, and schematics.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations necessary for measurements and adjustments.
  • Experience with machining operations is a plus.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding conditions requiring lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
