HVAC Maintenance Technician

We are looking for an experienced HVAC Maintenance Technician to support environmental control systems within a large industrial facility. This role focuses on maintaining stable operating conditions across a variety of mechanical cooling equipment, fluid‑based temperature control systems, and precision air‑handling units.

The technician will perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and system optimization to ensure reliable performance and equipment longevity. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on technical work, problem‑solving, and supporting complex mechanical infrastructure.

This position is at the site in Prince George BC. 4 days on / 4 days off rotation with rotating days and nights. Relocation assistance will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily operations, inspections, and preventative maintenance on HVAC and cooling systems
• Maintain and service fluid‑based cooling equipment, pumps, manifolds, and distribution components
• Monitor system performance and respond to alarms or deviations (temperature, humidity, flow, pressure)
• Troubleshoot mechanical and thermal issues in collaboration with maintenance, electrical, and controls teams
• Support commissioning and testing of new cooling equipment during upgrades or facility expansions
• Document maintenance activities, readings, and repairs in digital work‑order systems
• Follow strict safety protocols including LOTO, confined space procedures, and chemical handling guidelines
• Assist with performance tracking and reporting on system efficiency and operational metrics

Qualifications

• 5+ years of HVAC experience in commercial, industrial, or specialized facilities
• Strong understanding of mechanical cooling systems, including hydronic loops and fluid distribution
• Experience working with automated building systems or controls platforms
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs
• Solid diagnostic skills for airflow, temperature control, pressure, and fluid movement
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross‑functional maintenance teams

Preferred Certifications & Experience

• Journeyman HVAC or equivalent trade certification
• Experience with advanced or non‑traditional cooling systems (asset)
• Familiarity with CMMS or digital work‑order systems

Additional Requirements

• Comfortable working a rotating shift schedule (4‑on / 4‑off, days and nights)
