Taekwondo Instructor / After-School Program Leader
Location: Scarborough, ON
Position Type: Part-Time (with potential for Full-Time)

We are seeking an experienced, energetic, and professional Taekwondo Instructor to join our team in Scarborough. This role combines teaching Taekwondo classes with assisting in our successful after-school program. The ideal candidate will be passionate about martial arts, enjoy working with children, and be committed to developing students both on and off the mats.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Taekwondo classes to students of various ages and skill levels.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction in kicking techniques, self-defence, sparring, and poomsae.
  • Prepare students for gradings, tournaments, and demonstrations.
  • Maintain knowledge of current Taekwondo competition rules and regulations.
  • Supervise and engage students in our after-school program.
  • Safely transport students from local schools to our facility.
  • Promote a positive, disciplined, and respectful training environment.
  • Communicate professionally with students, parents, and fellow staff members.
  • Assist with camps, special events, tournaments, and demonstrations as required.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional facility.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2nd Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo.
  • Previous experience teaching Taekwondo classes is required.
  • Strong knowledge of current Taekwondo rules and regulations, including sparring competition standards.
  • Strong knowledge of recognized Taekwondo poomsae and grading requirements.
  • Experience working with children and youth.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and classroom management skills.
  • Professional, reliable, and punctual.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid Ontario Driver's Licence.
  • Clean driving record required.
  • Ability to provide a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coaching athletes for tournaments and competitions.
  • Experience teaching students of all belt levels.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience in after-school, camp, coaching, or childcare programs.
