Communications Coordinator

Job Overview

As an integral member of the NAFC team, the Communications Coordinator, under the direction of the CEO and Senior Communications Coordinator, is responsible for developing and implementing NAFCs strategic communication plans. The Communications Coordinator will collaborate closely with the communications team, community members, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure effective communication strategies align with the NAFCs strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage NAFCs social media presence, including content creation, scheduling, and engagement;
  • Monitor and track media coverage and trends related to NAFCs services and provide regular reports and analysis;
  • Coordinate public relations activities, including building and maintaining relationships with community members and relevant stakeholders;
  • Organize and support the planning and execution of events, campaigns and conferences;
  • Maintain NAFCs website, ensuring everything is up to date, engaging, and accessible;
  • Stay up to date with the latest communication trends and technologies;
  • Seek opportunities to enhance NAFCs reputation and propose innovative ideas for enhancing NAFCs communication strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field;
  • 2-3 years of proven experience in communications, public relations, or a related role, preferably within the non-profit sector;
  • Must be able to work in both official languages;
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous history and culture;

  • Knowledge of desktop publishing software;
  • Excellent written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver key messages to a diverse audience;
  • Proficiency in creating content for digital and traditional media platforms.
  • Experience in managing social media platforms and utilizing social media management tools;
  • Familiarity with website management and content management systems (CMS);
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and external stakeholders;
  • Fluency in an Indigenous language is also an asset.

Preference will be given to candidates living in the Ottawa/Gatineau region.Depending on applicant qualifications, this role has an expected salary range of$56,700 - $64,100.

En tant que membre part entire de lquipe de lANCA, la coordonnatrice ou le coordonnateur des communications, sous la supervision de la directrice principale, est responsable de llaboration et de la mise en uvre des plans de communication stratgiques de lANCA. La coordonnatrice ou le coordonnateur des communications collaborera troitement avec lquipe de communication, les membres de la communaut et les autres parties concernes afin de garantir des stratgies de communication efficaces et conformes aux objectifs stratgiques de lANCA.

Principales responsabilits

  • Grer la prsence de lANCA sur les mdias sociaux, y compris la cration de contenu, la programmation et lengagement;
  • Surveiller et suivre la couverture mdiatique et les tendances lies aux services de lANCA et produire rgulirement des rapports et des analyses;
  • Coordonner les activits de relations publiques, y compris ltablissement et le maintien des relations avec les membres de la communaut et les parties concernes;
  • Organiser et soutenir la planification et le droulement dvnements, de campagnes et de congrs;
  • Maintenir le site Web de lANCA, en veillant ce quil soit jour, attrayant et accessible;
  • Rester au courant des dernires tendances et technologies en matire de communication;
  • Rechercher des possibilits damliorer la rputation de lANCA et proposer des ides novatrices pour renforcer les stratgies de communication de lANCA.

Qualification

  • Baccalaurat en communication, en relations publiques, en journalisme ou dans une discipline connexe;
  • Deux trois ans dexprience prouve en communication, en relations publiques ou dans un domaine connexe, de prfrence dans le secteur sans but lucratif;
  • Capacit travailler dans les deux langues officielles;
  • Profonde comprhension de lhistoire et de la culture autochtones;

  • Connaissance des logiciels de publication assiste par ordinateur;
  • Excellentes aptitudes en communication crite et orale, avec la capacit de transmettre des messages cls un public diversifi;
  • Comptence en matire de cration de contenu pour les plateformes mdiatiques numriques et traditionnelles;
  • Exprience en gestion de mdias sociaux et avec lutilisation doutils de gestion des mdias sociaux;
  • Bonne connaissance de la gestion de sites Web et des systmes de gestion de contenu;
  • Capacit manifeste travailler efficacement sous pression, organiser les tches en ordre de priorit et respecter les chanciers;
  • Solides comptences interpersonnelles et capacit collaborer efficacement avec les membres de lquipe et les parties externes;

  • La matrise dune langue autochtone est galement un atout.
