Job Title: Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis
Job Description

The Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) plays a critical role in driving the financial planning, forecasting, and analytical insights that support strategic decision-making across the organization. This highly visible role oversees the development of financial models, budgets, and performance metrics, while leading a small finance team and partnering closely with cross-functional leaders. The successful candidate brings a strong analytical mindset, proven leadership experience, and the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights that guide business performance and long-term direction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a small finance team, providing direction, coaching, and oversight on complex financial and analytical projects.
  • Manage and deliver complex financial planning projects, ensuring high-quality outputs and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Develop robust financial models, forecasts, budgets, cost models, and scenario analyses to assess profitability and support decision-making.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to evaluate business initiatives and ensure financial implications are clearly understood and aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Oversee the preparation of management reporting packages, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and timely delivery to executive stakeholders.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and design dashboards that enhance visibility into operational and financial performance.
  • Analyze financial data, trends, and variances to identify risks, opportunities, and actionable insights for the business.
  • Lead ad hoc financial analyses to support strategic projects, pricing decisions, and operational improvements.
  • Collaborate closely with accounting teams to ensure alignment between FP&A insights and financial statement results.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and evaluating cost-reduction opportunities across areas such as fuel, maintenance, labor, and third-party carrier spend.
  • Mentor and develop team members by providing guidance, feedback, and support on complex analytical tasks.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the broader finance function and organizational objectives.
Essential Skills
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including a minimum of 1–2 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
  • Professional designation or advanced credential such as CPA, CFA, or MBA.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills with the ability to build, maintain, and interpret complex models.
  • Strong business acumen and a data-driven mindset, with the ability to connect financial insights to operational and strategic outcomes.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including experience managing and mentoring finance professionals.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide clear, data-driven recommendations.
  • Proactive approach to identifying process improvements, cost-saving opportunities, and strategic initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and other productivity tools, within a Windows operating environment.
  • Experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, financial planning, and variance analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience developing and maintaining dashboards and management reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with data visualization software such as Power BI or similar tools.
  • Experience working in environments with complex cost structures, including fuel, maintenance, labor, and third-party spend.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including operations, accounting, and leadership.
  • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial concepts in a clear and compelling way.
  • Demonstrated ability to support strategic projects, including pricing initiatives and operational improvements.
Work Environment

This role is based onsite five days per week at the company's head office terminal in Bolton, Ontario. The position operates within a professional office environment that supports a large, tech-forward transportation and logistics organization. You will work closely with finance, accounting, and cross-functional teams in a collaborative setting that emphasizes customer excellence, safety, innovation, and continuous improvement. Standard business hours apply, with expectations of responsiveness during key planning and reporting cycles. The environment uses modern office technology, including Windows-based systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and data visualization tools such as Power BI. Professional business attire is expected in alignment with a corporate head office setting.

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
