Our client, a well-established and highly respected insurance organization, is seeking an experienced Senior Director, Technology & Operations (Business Solutions) to play a critical leadership role in shaping the future of the business.

This position offers a unique opportunity to influence enterprise-wide strategy, operational effectiveness, digital transformation, cybersecurity, AI adoption, and business technology initiatives. Reporting to executive leadership, you will serve as the bridge between business operations and technology, ensuring solutions support organizational growth, efficiency, innovation, and exceptional customer experiences.

This role is ideal for a collaborative leader who combines strong business acumen with technology expertise and thrives in an environment where relationship building, coaching, and cross-functional leadership are essential.

What You'll Do

Strategic Leadership & Business Transformation

  • Partner with executive leadership to align technology and operational initiatives with business goals.
  • Drive enterprise-wide transformation initiatives that improve efficiency, scalability, and business performance.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence and Microsoft Copilot, to enhance productivity and decision-making.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, providing strategic recommendations on technology investments and operational improvements.
  • Champion a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Technology & Business Solutions

  • Lead the delivery and ongoing enhancement of business applications, digital platforms, websites, and operational systems.
  • Oversee application development initiatives, integrations, and enhancements that support business growth and customer experience objectives.
  • Manage API strategies and third-party software integrations to ensure seamless connectivity across systems.
  • Provide oversight of SharePoint and collaboration platforms to improve knowledge sharing and operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that create measurable business value.

Cybersecurity, Risk & Governance

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to strengthen cybersecurity controls and best practices.
  • Ensure technology solutions meet regulatory, compliance, security, and risk management requirements.
  • Support business continuity, data protection, and governance initiatives across the organization.

Project Management & Operational Excellence

  • Lead strategic projects and enterprise initiatives from concept through implementation.
  • Oversee project governance, prioritization, resource planning, budgeting, and execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across departments and functional areas.
  • Establish and promote best practices in project management, change management, business analysis, and solution delivery.

Vendor & Partner Management

  • Manage relationships with external vendors, consultants, software providers, and strategic partners.
  • Lead contract negotiations, service-level agreements, and vendor performance management.
  • Ensure third-party partners deliver value, innovation, security, and operational excellence.

Leadership, Coaching & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing team of business analysts, project managers, and technology professionals.
  • Conduct performance reviews, establish development plans, and support employee growth and succession planning.
  • Foster a collaborative, open, and engaging environment that encourages teamwork and innovation.
  • Build strong partnerships across functional areas to ensure alignment and successful execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Act as a visible and approachable leader who inspires trust, accountability, and results.

Requirements

Experience & Qualifications

  • University degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in technology, operations, business solutions, digital transformation, or project management.
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide initiatives within insurance, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Business applications and software development
    • Website and digital platform management
    • APIs and third-party system integrations
    • Microsoft SharePoint and collaboration technologies
    • Artificial Intelligence tools, including Microsoft Copilot and related productivity solutions
    • Cybersecurity principles, governance, and risk management
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and complex organizational initiatives.
  • Strong vendor management and contract negotiation experience.
  • Experience with Agile, Lean, Continuous Improvement, or related methodologies is considered an asset.
