Reporting to: Construction Manager & Development Manager
Work Type: 100% onsite | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Compensation: Salary + benefits + RRSP matching

  • BCIN certification is a must have.

Role Summary

The Draftsperson supports construction and development teams by preparing architectural drawings, ensuring compliance with building codes, and providing technical and administrative support for residential construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Drafting

  • Prepare architectural drawings using CADD tools in line with Ontario Building Code and municipal zoning requirements.

  • Create and maintain master drawings, plans, and pricing documents.

  • Review drawings for accuracy, quality, and compliance.

  • Identify design issues and propose solutions or alternate layouts.

  • Respond to technical queries from construction sites and internal teams.

  • Support permit submissions and BCIN plan reviews.

Construction & Project Support

  • Assist with permit applications, upgrade orders, and documentation.

  • Participate in site meetings, inspections, and coordination activities.

  • Support budgeting and cost estimates through takeoffs and data analysis.

  • Coordinate with décor, construction, and sales teams on design changes and upgrades.

Administrative Support

  • Provide general administrative and office support.

  • Maintain project records, schedules, and priorities.

  • Track tasks, deadlines, and project status.

  • Communicate updates with management and team members.

Health & Safety

  • Follow all health and safety policies and regulations.

  • Identify and report potential hazards.

Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in CADD and drafting software (e.g., SketchUp, SoftPlan, 3D modelling tools).

  • Strong knowledge of building systems, materials, and construction practices.

  • Understanding of Ontario Building Code, municipal bylaws, and zoning regulations.

Professional Skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

Education & Experience

  • Diploma in design, drafting, architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Minimum 5 years of drafting experience.

  • BCIN certification required.

  • Clean criminal record check required.
