This role is ideal for a hands-on finance professional who enjoys building structure, improving processes, and working closely with leadership to drive long-term sustainability.

Reporting to senior leadership, the Controller will oversee day-to-day financial operations, support strategic decision-making, and lead the development of scalable systems and controls. This position offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact while working in a values-driven environment that prioritizes people, community, and long-term outcomes.

  • Supporting leadership with financial insights, analysis, and strategic recommendations
  • Overseeing and mentoring a small internal finance team, providing guidance and development
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, reporting standards, and funding requirements
  • Supporting the financial components of fundraising, grants, and donor reporting
  • Assisting in the transition and optimization of systems and tools to improve efficiency and reporting
  • Driving continuous improvement and scalability within the finance function

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including leadership responsibility
  • Strong background in financial reporting, controls, and full-cycle accounting
  • Experience in nonprofit, fund accounting, or multi-entity environments is highly preferred
  • CPA designation is considered an asset but not required
  • Demonstrated ability to build processes and bring structure to evolving environments
  • Hands-on, practical approach with a willingness to roll up sleeves and execute
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic, growth-oriented setting
  • Experience with systems such as QuickBooks (or similar) and CRM platforms is an asset
  • Alignment with a values-driven, community-oriented organization will be important for success

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary in the range of $85,000 – $110,000, depending on experience
  • Employer RRSP contribution

  • Three weeks' vacation plus additional paid time off during the holiday season
