MacDonald Search Group is proud to partner with a rapidly growing, Burnaby-based manufacturing leader in search of a dynamic, "hands-on" Human Resources Manager.
With around 100-employees they are transitioning from a smaller operation to a mid-sized powerhouse. This standalone role is fit for a true people champion who thrives on the shop floor as much as in the boardroom and can build a world-class culture and ensure their rapid growth is handled with efficiency and care.
Key Responsibilities
  • Employee Engagement & Retention: Proactively walk the floor to understand employee concerns. Act as a trusted confidant and problem-solver, creating an environment where every worker feels heard and valued.
  • Safety Leadership: Take full ownership of Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) programs, ensuring a culture of safety excellence and full compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations.
  • HR Generalist Excellence: Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and compensation/benefits administration.
  • Compliance Expert: Serve as the internal authority on BC Employment Standards and labour laws to mitigate risk and ensure fair practices.
  • Strategic Growth Support: Partner with the CEO to scale the workforce efficiently, ensuring that as the company grows, the culture remains intact and the right talent is in the right seats.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a seasoned HR professional who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves. You should be someone who values "listening" as much as "implementing."
  • Experience: 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with a significant portion spent in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Education: A degree or diploma in Human Resources; CPHR designation is considered a strong asset.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep expertise in BC Labour Standards and WorkSafeBC requirements.
  • Communication Style: Approachable, empathetic, and firm when necessary. You have a proven ability to connect with front line workers and executive leadership alike.
  • Independence: Comfortable in a standalone role, managing both high-level strategy and daily administrative tasks.
Why Join This Team?
Our client is at a pivotal turning point. They need a leader who can transform HR from a function into a competitive advantage. If you are passionate about making things better for people and want to see the direct impact of your work on a daily basis, this could be a great fit. The successful candidate will be rewarded with a generous compensation package (base salary $80-110k depending on experience) and long term growth opportunities. If you'd like to take the next step, please forward your resume ASAP.
