CanCam CNC Machines
Newcastle, ON
Détails de l'emploi :
We are hiring an experienced Technician 3 / Product Specialist who is happiest with their hands on a machine. The primary work is traditional technician work: installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining CNC routers, fiber lasers, CO2 lasers, and vertical milling machines, both at our Newcastle facility and at customer sites across the country. We are looking for someone with strong mechanical and electrical aptitude who is passionate about building and supporting cutting-edge technology.
Hands On Machine Work (Primary Focus)
- Install, commission, and start up CNC routers, fiber lasers, CO2 lasers, and vertical milling machines at customer sites and in our shop.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system issues on customer machines and on machines in production.
- Perform preventive maintenance on customer machines under the CanCam Advantage program and on internal shop equipment.
- Build, assemble, wire, and test machines in the Newcastle production area when not deployed in the field.
- Replace and align spindles, servos, drives, laser sources, cutting heads, nozzles, and vacuum systems.
- Run quality checks, cut tests, and accuracy verification before machines ship and after install.
Product Specialist Development - Build deep expertise on one or more CanCam machine platforms (CNC routers, fiber lasers, CO2 lasers, or VMCs) and become a go to internal resource on that platform.
- Work with the team to maintain accuracy in our technical knowledge base, install procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Stay current on new models, controllers, and accessories as our product line evolves. Participate in factory and supplier training when offered.
- Contribute to internal training so other technicians can grow in your specialty area over time.
Onsite Support and Service (Secondary focus)
- Travel to customer locations to deliver installation, training, and service work, primarily across Ontario, with occasional travel across Canada.
- Represent CanCam professionally on customer sites. You are the face of the company once you arrive.
- Document service calls, parts used, time on site, and issues found in our support systems.
- Work alongside other technicians on larger or more complex installs.
- Provide phone and remote support when needed during shop days, including remote diagnostics, troubleshooting, and parts identification.
Compliance and Safety
- Follow CanCam safety procedures and Ontario WHMIS requirements at all times.
- Adhere to CSA, UL, and Health Canada Radiation Emitting Devices Act requirements when working on laser equipment.
- Work safely on customer sites and respect each customer's site rules and PPE requirements.
Required Experience and Skills
- Three or more years of hands-on technical experience in one or more of the following: industrial CNC service, machine assembly and commissioning, millwright, industrial electrician, automotive or heavy equipment technician, mechatronics, or related trades.
- Strong mechanical aptitude. Comfortable with alignment, leveling, gantry assembly, drives, gearboxes, and mechanical fits and tolerances.
- Strong electrical aptitude. Comfortable reading schematics, tracing circuits, working with low voltage controls, and using a multimeter.
- Comfortable working independently at a customer site. You can show up, assess, communicate, fix, and document without close supervision.
- Valid Ontario G driver's licence and clean abstract. Comfortable with regular travel by company vehicle.
- Willing and able to travel for day jobs across Ontario, with occasional overnight stays for multi day or distant installs.
- Solid written and verbal communication. You can explain a problem to a customer and document it clearly in our systems.
- Physically capable of typical industrial work: lifting up to 25 kilograms regularly, working from ladders or lifts, and standing for long periods.
License/Certification:
● Valid Driver's Licence (required)
● Access to transportation (required)
Nice to Have
- Direct experience on Masso, FSCUT, Syntec, or OSAI controllers.
- Direct experience on fiber laser systems, CO2 laser systems, VMC or CNC routers.
- Experience commissioning new machines from crate to first cut.
- PLC, servo system, or vacuum system experience.
- Trade certification (310S, 309A, 442A, 433A, or related), millwright ticket, or post secondary in mechatronics, electromechanical, electrical, or mechanical engineering technology.
- French language ability (asset for service work in Quebec).
How You Work
- You take ownership. When you are at a customer site, you are responsible for the outcome.
- You take direction well. Cameron sets the technical standards and you execute against them.
- You communicate proactively. You let the team know what is happening, especially when something is going sideways.
- You are a learner. CNC, laser, and controls technology change. So does our product lineup.
- You care about the customer. The customer's machine is their livelihood. Treat the work that way.
