We are seeking an experienced Manager, Accounting and Finance to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and efficient accounting processes while supporting strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong technical accounting skills and the ability to drive financial performance in a dynamic business environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Financial ReportingOversee all accounting functions, including AP/AR, payroll, general ledger, and tax compliance (HST, corporate tax, etc.).
Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements in compliance with Canadian ASPE/IFRS.
Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and audit support.
Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies (CRA, WSIB, etc.).
Maintain and strengthen internal controls to mitigate financial risks.
Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling to support business decisions.
Analyze financial performance, variances, and trends, providing actionable insights to senior leadership.
Monitor cash flow, working capital, and key financial metrics to optimize profitability.
Support business growth through cost analysis, pricing strategies, and investment evaluations.
Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering professional development and efficiency.
Identify and implement process improvements through automation (e.g., ERP enhancements, RPA).
Ensure compliance with Ontario employment standards, tax laws, and Canadian financial regulations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Operations, Sales, Construction, Property Management, HR) to align financial strategies with business goals.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation (required).
Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with 2+ years in a managerial role (Ontario-based experience preferred).
Technical Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks, Sage, Yardi, or other Canadian ERP systems; advanced Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTables, financial modeling).
Soft Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to present financial data to non-finance stakeholders.
